Hi, I’m having an issue with my electricity. The RCD switch in my fuse box (the wider switch marked “Push to Test 63A”) keeps tripping, sometimes after a few hours and sometimes within seconds or minutes. When it trips, several appliances and sockets lose power, but some lights remain on. I have to switch the RCD back up to restore the electricity.

Budget: £1,000 initially for electrical work — open to itemised quotes. Looking for a qualified, insured electrician registered with NICEIC, NAPIT or an equivalent competent person scheme to connect my timber garden house in London to the house electricity supply. Proposed route: from the main consumer unit, along the external side passage, then underground through the garden. Total cable route approximately 20 metres. Electrical work required: • Assess the existing supply and confirm the appropriate cable size and connection. • Supply and install suitable armoured cable, circuit protection, earthing and a garden-house consumer unit/local isolation as appropriate. • Install 4 double sockets and 3 single sockets. • Install 1 light switch with wiring prepared for future lighting, safely terminated and enclosed. No light fitting required now. • Provide an electrical supply suitable for the planned AC/heat pump, with requirements confirmed against the exact model. • Tidy surface-mounted wiring and weatherproof cable entries. • Full inspection/testing, Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification/compliance certificate. FYI — planned air conditioning: I’m planning to install a 2.5 kW air-to-air heat pump/AC unit for heating. If you also have the qualifications and experience to install and commission this, I’d be interested in having both jobs completed together. Please quote AC installation separately and state whether supplying the unit is included. I will dig and backfill the garden trench to your agreed specification. I can also lay the specified cable if agreed beforehand, leaving it exposed for inspection before backfilling. Please exclude excavation from your quote. Please itemise materials, labour, certification and VAT where applicable. Identify any necessary upgrades to the house’s existing electrical installation separately. Please confirm your registration and availability.
