Had recently installed Analog Timer and Switch to connect hot water bottom element only on general rate + solar timer with a switch (up). It can also revert back to off peak (down switch) as before without timer. The problem is hot water only warm in the afternoon and cold again at night until the next afternoon. Guessing the problem is the top element not connected properly to continuous off peak as said in the manual (2nd pic), causing the bottom to never heats up. I have a Rinnai Solar 26 gas instantaneous hot water unit and the hot water is barely above warm. I have tried adjusting the dip switches as per the manual but it hasn't helped.
