Remove Old Paint: Scrape away flaking paint and sand the entire surface with 120-grit sandpaper. Test for sound paint using the tape test (make an "X" with a blade, apply tape, and rip off). Prime: Apply a primer to any bare timber to ensure good adhesion. Paint: Apply two coats of exterior acrylic paint using a roller for large areas and a brush for edges and crevasses.
