Install automatic gate in the driveway

I have noticed a potential gas smell coming from the kitchen cupboard where the gas supply connects to the stove. Please see the pics attached. I am looking for a gas fitter or plumber to test for the leaks and carry out repairs if required.

I want to lock the white door. There is no way to lock it though (see the brick on the floor). Help me lock through some handyman magic. Alternatively, I want to lock the slider door in the last photo which is what you see as you enter the white door.

Brick pillar has crumbling mortar mostly towards bottom and also at base which I believe is concrete. Overall pillar has leaned in to an angle where it is no longer aligned with sliding gate. Need this removed and crumbling parts either removed and re-mortared or re-bricked whatever is more appropriate. top half still seems quite solid. I have approximately 100 spare bricks not in this pillar that can be used as required however this entire pillar would require more than that amount so probably can't do from scratch without re-using a fair bit from the pillar itself.

I have been told this is a big job. I have mobility issues and the gate is too heavy for me to comfortably close each night manually. Cost to electrify it? Quoted $6000 which I think is outrageously high. Any advice much appreciated
