What do underfloor heating installation services include?

Apart from roof and ceiling insulation, underfloor heating is another way of reducing your energy consumption and electricity bills. For a quicker installation, it's best to get someone who knows their way to almost any make and model from various underfloor heating companies. From assembly and installation, plumbing and electrical works, as well as final inspections, they can help!

Keep in mind that underfloor heating experts can only provide minor screeding. Consider hiring a flooring expert for a smoother and more secure flooring surface after the installation. If you are new to underfloor heating, here are some of the things you can expect:

Electric underfloor heating installation

Electric underfloor heating comes with an interconnected coil or electrical wires embedded into heating mats. You can install them pretty much anywhere as long as they are connected to a power source. Significantly thin and more accessible, electric underfloor heating is ideal when retrofitting existing rooms. The exact installation process depends on the recommendations of the manufacturer, but the service usually includes:

  • Disassembly or lifting of existing floors (if needed)
  • Cutting of mesh if they appear too loose for the existing subfloor
  • Rolling out of heating mats
  • Fixing them on the surface using double-sided tapes or glues (usually attached on your mesh)
  • Installing of temperature sensors and connecting them to a thermostat
  • Connecting your underfloor heating to the main electrical source

Wet underfloor heating installation

Wet heating systems feature a series of pipes that are commonly connected to a central boiler, although some models can work with solar panels or heat pumps. Once you've set the temperature on your thermostat, the boiler will start heating a certain amount of water and pump them throughout the pipes. The heat energy from the pipeworks will emanate across the room, from the underfloor up to the ceiling. Installing your wet underfloor heating might take longer than electric underfloor heating since it requires a bit of plumbing work. While Taskers are more familiar with fitting them for new commercial or residential builds, there are also plenty of plumbers who can install them in existing rooms. The installation process involves:

  • Layout designing (if needed)
  • Securing the manifold in place
  • Fixing pipeworks in place
  • Connecting your heating pipes to the manifold
  • Screeding over the new underfloor heating systems
  • Checking of flow rates

After the installation, it can be quite frustrating to deal with all the residual dirt and dust floating around the house. If you don't have the time to fix up, why not book a Tasker for a quick after builders cleaning service? With the right skills and set of cleaning equipment, you won't have to worry at all about the mess!

Set timing on my digistat/ensure heating turns on

£50

West Kensington, Greater London, W14

3rd Jan 2019

Please can anybody help me sort this issue for good? this task has a long history behind it which I need to summarise. A couple of months ago I noticed my heating wasn't starting at all so a boiler engineer from my home insurance came over and checked it, under my insurance cover. He said that the boiler was perfectly fine and all I had to do was replace my existing digistat device with a new one I had to buy by myself because that was the source of the problem. So I bought the same identical "Drayton Digistat 2 RF" device that was previously there which goes attached on the wall and is synched with a second wall case Wireless system (see pics). At end of October I then paid a large sum of £80 for a specialist sourced from this website to come and set up the new device I had bought into the wall and make sure it was functioning properly. I had to do so because my insurance does not cover the digistat service. The handyman set up the device quickly (less than an hour) and told me it was all working well (both boiler and digistat) and that all I had to do myself was set up the timer onto the device. He said it was a simple thing to do and it would work fine once I did that. I didn't touch anything on the device for a few weeks and when I finally decided to set the timer onto the device around mid December, I did that by following the instruction sheet of the device, as the handyman said I had to do. At that point I realised that the device is not synched to the second case on the wall and for whatever reason unknown to me, the timing is not activating the heating: the digistat is NOT working correctly by following the time slots that I wish to set to have the heating turn on in an automated way every day. So eventually I discovered I had wasted the money I had paid for that first handyman. Please note I am currently unemployed and cannot really afford to have multiple handymen to come over to fix partial things and not complete the job which is as follows: - I need a specialist that has good working knowledge of both boilers and digistats/thermostats to come over to fix any issues the heating system may have. IF there are issues, (which I have no way of knowing) this person must solve the issue directly right then and there: whether it's on the boiler or on the device (hence I need somebody that knows all about both) - I ultimately need this person to set the timer on the device and show me evidence that the timer is activating the heating correctly, meaning the heating has to be constantly turned off by default and must activate itself automatically ONLY AT the specific clock times that we have set together. For example, if we set the heating to turn on at 7pm it must activate itself at 7pm! This may turn out to be a 10 minutes job for anyone that does have expertise on digistats and boilers but I cannot personally forecast what the problem is. All I know is that a boiler engineer first told me that the boiler is fine, then a second specialist told met the device was set up fine. Yet, the timing is still not activating the heating and I don't want the heating to come on in a manual way. I need somebody that can take the job without leaving my flat telling me I have to do something else alone, so they can save their time. I need somebody that proves me the timing is set correctly just before leaving my flat please, meaning the job is fully completed and I don't have to pay any further money as I have already wasted money to buy a new device and to pay the previous handyman. Thanks in advance for your understanding and excuse my frustrated message but it's dragged for too long! When you message me, please let me know what is the lowest price you can do this for me, any day by 7 January latest. If I find a person I can trust, I have many friends who own flats who need reliable specialists and I may need more tasks like this done in furure.

So I have bought a Drayton Digistat 2 RF that goes attached on the wall and is synched with a wall case Wireless system. This is identical to the one that is previously had there so somebody needs to: 1) remove the current digistat from the wall 2) install the new onto the wall 3) link up the digistat to the other square case box that is on the wall 4) ensure that the heating does turn on in timed manner Thank you very much.
