We have a loud "drip-ping" echoing noise coming from 3 Colorbond downpipes when it rains — water free-falls inside the pipes and strikes the bottom elbows, causing a loud banging/drumming sound. All 3 downpipes are upstairs on a double storey townhouse, located outside the bedrooms. Looking for someone with proven experience specifically fixing this noise issue — please only apply if you've done this fix before and can show past success. Not looking for general trial-and-error. Job required: Install a weighted nylon cord or plastic-coated chain down the full length of each downpipe (from the gutter outlet to the bottom elbow) so water clings to it via surface tension instead of free-falling and hitting the elbow, reducing/eliminating the noise across all 3 pipes. I have one pipe that is sitting just above the drain that needs to be connected to the storm water as there is a small gap of a few cm. Also have one pipe out the side of house that has cracked and needs a piece to replace it.

Replace a blocked, rectangular tin, down pipe with a new 90mm PVC down pipe on a two storey building. Easily accessed from the gate on road side. Check there is no further blockage down stream from where the pipe is replaced.

1) Connect the existing roof downpipe to the nearby stormwater connection. 2) Cap off the redundant pipe from the old water tank. 3) Supply any fittings required. 4) Test to ensure it drains correctly. I don't know where the storm water connection is but its not too far away as there is an existing setup on the same but opposite side of this way. Might need to dig a bit. Amend the 5 downpipes shown to make room for electrical conduit to run under the downpipe on top of the brickwork capping, also use pvc pipe to remove the sharp 90 degree angle to reduce rain noise.
