I am setting up a rainwater harvesting system using two 1000-litre IBC tote tanks. Below is the plan: ### **What I Have** 1. **Tanks**: Two 1000-litre IBC totes with taps installed. 2. **Infrastructure**: Gutters connected to the stormwater drain. 3. **Materials**: - PVC pipes - Garden hose - 18 besser blocks for the tank stand --- ### **Tasks to Be Done** 1. **Downpipe Modification** - Cut the downpipe connected to the stormwater drain. - Install a downpipe diverter to channel rainwater into the tank. - Channel water from Roof 2 (0.5m gap) into the gutter with a short pipe or sheet. 2. **First Flush Diverter** - Install a PVC first flush diverter with a ball to collect dirty water. - Place it next to the tank for easy cleaning. 3. **Tank Installation** - Build a stable stand with 18 besser blocks. - Place both tanks securely on the stand. 4. **Tank Connection** - Use PVC pipes or a flexible hose to connect the tanks for even water distribution. 5. **Overflow Pipe** - Install an overflow pipe to redirect excess water back to the stormwater drain. 6. **Garden Taps** - Add two taps: one for a garden hose and one for general use. - Ensure all fittings are leak-proof. 7. **Leaf Guard and Tank Inlet Screen** - Add gutter mesh to prevent debris and a tank inlet screen for filtration. 8. **Final Setup and Testing** - Check all connections for leaks and ensure proper water flow. --- ### **Materials to Be Supplied by You** - Downpipe diverter - First Flush Diverter Kit - Gutter mesh and tank inlet screen - PVC fittings (elbows, T-joints) - Sealant/plumber’s tape Please ensure all work is secure, leak-proof, and efficient.
