Carpet beetle infestation

I'm finding holes on my woolen garments and on a few occasions I've seen insects in the house that I now realize are carpet beetle larvae. I haven't seen any larvae in weeks (never seen an adult) and I generally see them very rarely so I wonder if they're coming from the attic or somewhere outside. I'm not looking to blindly spray the whole house with insecticides. I need someone with experience with similar infestations and a strategy. So the task won't necessarily go to the lowest quote.
