"We had tried to get local builders to come and fix our gate for zero response. Rob responded in minutes through Airtasker, came to our house the next day, and built our gate to specifications the second - absolutely brilliant experience and we now have the gate we want - Rob also went beyond the job by fixing our back fence with a concrete pour - could not be happier!! How do you get a sturdy fence put up to complement your home’s exteriors while giving you more privacy and a measure of security? By booking a reliable builder on Airtasker to put up your wood fencing, that’s how! Finding a good builder to install your wood fencing is a tedious task in itself, which is why Airtasker is here to help.
Post your budget to get matched with Taskers closest to you. Don’t be surprised to receive quotes from several qualified Taskers within a few minutes. Our job is to spare you the stress and effort of finding an expert to build your wood fencing. We can match you with the most skilled builders who offer reasonable rates.
Don’t forget you can see ratings and reviews on each Tasker who offers, so you don’t have to choose based on their rates alone. Once you’ve booked a Tasker, they proceed to work on your wood fencing. You can sit back, relax and leave them to put up a wood fence you can treasure for years to come.
Sure, for as long as you have the materials, tools, and skills. You should also know precisely how to put up a wood fence that complies with state laws and your council’s regulations. If you are unsure how to build a proper fence, don’t risk the hassle of fines and penalties should your wood fencing fail to comply - hire an expert on our platform instead.
That depends on the wood and if the fence had a protective sealant applied. The most durable woods for wood fencing are spruce, cedar, and pine. You may be surprised to discover that untreated cedar can last from 15 to 30 years, and 40 years if treated. Pine can last ten years untreated, and 20 years with sealant. Spruce is the least durable, lasting only five years without sealant but can last for as long as 20 years if treated.
Yes, it’s possible to have fences that don’t need holes to drive posts into, and these are called free-standing fences. Most free-standing fences are prefabricated and made of less durable materials like PVC. While the effort of assembly and placement are minimal, they’re often too low to provide any security or privacy. You should also check with your state’s laws and council rules if they allow free-standing fences.
A good fence that provides security, privacy and looks modern can add 10 to 20% to your property’s value - this is regardless of the material used to make the fence. If you plan to put your property on the market, remember that a home with a fence appeals most to families and pet owners. A poorly designed or poorly-made fence can’t harm your property’s value, but it adds no value either.
That depends on your budget, the maintenance you’re willing to do and your personal preference. Staining the panels and posts of your wood fence shows off the wood grain, whereas paint dramatically changes how a fence looks. Staining is easier since you can always add more staining to the wood, while paint requires sanding off the old paint before applying a fresh coat.
You can protect your wood fencing against termites with an oil-based stain or apply an oil-based primer followed by a termite-resistant paint. Some maintenance around your backyard is necessary; remove any old, rotten stumps close to your fence and store firewood a few metres away from your fence. You should also clear away any sources of moisture and inspect each section of your fence regularly for termites.

Wood fencing services include all the activities necessary to install a timber fence on your property. Your hired wood fencing builder can ensure that it is functional, aesthetically pleasing and complies with rules and regulations on fencing. This service can include taking the necessary measurements, procuring materials to put up the fence, assembling the fence and applying finishing touches.
Your wood fence installation begins by discussing the size and location of your wood fence with your hired Tasker. After you specify your needs and where you want the wood fence, your hired wood fence builder takes all the necessary measurements. They can place your wood fence anywhere on your property, as long as its placement complies with rules set by your state and your local council.
Upon request, some Taskers can get all the needed materials for constructing and installing your timber fence, from the type of wood fence panels you need to the sealants needed for the job. They can put up a fence in the style you want and get all the posts, timber frame and timber panels.
Your hired Tasker can also cut any parts of the timber fence down to size if necessary. If your hired builder has to cut timber on-site, you may want to hire a separate service to clean up.
Your hired builder can dig holes in your backyard to install the posts for the wood fence. They can ensure that the holes are deep enough and are uniform in depth before burying the posts. Before burying the posts, your Tasker can ensure that the posts are level and of equal length. Once they're placed in the holes, they apply a partial filling of concrete to each hole.
Your Tasker can assemble sections of wood panels as the concrete dries. They can ensure that each panel is cut uniformly and at the right length, then assemble the panels into sections. Once the concrete is dry, your Tasker attaches fasteners on the top and bottom of each post. They then attach each panel section to the posts.
Your Tasker can install fascia boards on the outer sections of the wood fence and caps on each post. Upon request, some Taskers can apply a protective sealant to prevent moisture damage and repel pests.
You can also hire a separate service to paint your newly installed fence in a colour that matches your home. While you’re upgrading your backyard, why not get someone to beautify what’s behind your wood fence as well?

Need to remove a tiny portion of an adjoining fence - 3 rails, 3 posts and some pickets. Please view attached photo (remove yellow portion only) And plant a 10by10 post (indicated in orange) at the border so that neighbour can re-bolt his gate. You need not un-bolt nor touch the gate. The gate would be set aside by the neighbour. Yes, full written permission has already been granted. Summary - You will discard the unwanted fence, provide 1 tiny post and material to plant it.
Efficient and good work.

4 rows of wood have rotted and fallen off the fence screen in my courtyard. They need 3 new pieces of wood at the back (frame) and 4 new pieces need to be nailed onto it. I can paint it myself just need someone to replace the wooden parts. I have some wood at home which might be enough to fix it if you can cut it to length or you may need to buy a small amount for the backing frame. Quote doesn’t need to include materials but you will need your own equipment for cutting the wood etc.
Wonderful job. Clean, polite, on time and a great finished product. Would love to use them again.

We will have excavation happening and levelling as we install our pool. We need to board the bottom of the current fence so soil can sit against it. It is 28M in length in total and we need about 600mm in height. This is temporary for construction as we will have a fence with retaining wall installed later.

I want to get a wooden picket gate installed where I currently have a small metal gate, in order to provide better security for my children and against potential intruders. The existing gate and fence is shown in the attached images. Proposed style would be the following (minus the large posts either side): https://www.fostersfencing.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/picketgate.jpg. This image is also attached to this advert. I would want a metal frame to support the timber. I will do the paint work so just plain timber will suffice. Dimensions to fill are 105cm across from the brick on the side of the house to the current wooden post that connects it to the fence, with existing fence picket heights ranging from 170cm at its lowest point to 190cm tall at its tallest. The existing gate and fence is shown in the attached images. For security and kids proofing we want to use a LokkLatch (refer attached), with a hold for people to unlock from the outside which we then lock from the inside overnight. This is preferred to a generic gate latch (refer attached). I am not a tradie so am negotiable on price. Just send me your materials estimate and labour estimate so I can see how you arrived at your number and I'm happy to negotiate.
