I need help moving a brand new Super King mattress (2m x 2m) to the second floor of my townhouse in Maidstone. The mattress is heavy (approximately 60–80kg) and will require at least two strong people to complete the job safely. 🏠 Property Layout • Ground floor • First floor • Second floor (final destination) The mattress needs to go from the ground floor up to the second floor. ⚠️ Challenges 1. Stair clearance (first floor section): • The mattress fits through the first few stairs. • However, from around the third to fifth stair, the ceiling clearance becomes tight. • The height between the stair edge and ceiling corner is approximately 1.9m. • The mattress will likely need to be tilted diagonally and carefully manoeuvred, with firm pushing required. 2. First floor turn: • The mattress may need to be slightly bent/flexed to get through this section. 3. Second floor: • This area is easier with more space, but still requires careful handling. 💡 Alternative Option - best option There is a balcony on the first floor, and one possible solution could be lifting the mattress externally through the balcony and then taking it up the second set of stairs, which has more space.
