Repair broken and loose door handles

The balcony door (wooden) which swings inward to our master bedroom need weather proofing, as there is a small gap at the bottom of the door. As a result, rain water has been hitting the window / door and thus dripping water at the bottom of the door and into the room. We have these 'raven' weather door seals but they have been installed improperly i.e. not very flush touching the door - and the spring underneath is not really working. There are 2-4mm gaps at under the right door and variable from 0-2mm under the left door.

We’ve installed new carpets and now our doors need to be shaved a few mm off the bottom so it doesn’t get stuck against the new carpets.
