Top Wall Hanging and Mounting related questions
How do I hang pictures on the wall?
First, gather the picture or pictures you want to display. Get a hammer, pencil, and measuring tape. For plaster or drywall surfaces, you’ll need small nails (lightweight pieces), picture hangers (medium-weight pieces), or wall-plug anchors and screws (heavier pieces). For tile or glass, use adhesive hooks or brick clamps. Then, centre the picture or arrangement 57 inches (1.45 m) from the ground. Alternatively, you can ask a wall hanging handyman to hang the images for you.
How do I hang Christmas lights on a brick wall?
To hang lights on a brick wall, start by drilling holes into the wall. Put wall anchors or plugs through the holes, then attach cup hooks onto them. You can then hang the lights across your brick wall. For a less damaging alternative, you can use detachable brick clips or glue each light to the wall with a hot glue gun.
How do I hang a TV on the wall?
Use a stud finder to find wall studs in your desired area. Mark the holes and use a level to make sure the bracket hangs straight. Then, drill the holes and position the bracket. Once the bracket is in place, attach the mounting plate to your TV. You can do this by locating the mounting plate attachment holes at the back. Once the TV is secure, lift it onto the bracket. Secure it in place following the manufacturer’s instructions.
How do I wall mount a curved TV?
Wall mounting a curved TV is similar to how it’s done for any other TV. You’ll need to drill holes, position the bracket, attach the wall mount to the TV, and lift the device onto the bracket. The only difference is that you’ll need to find a mount that’s specialised for curved TVs. You can consult your nearby appliance centre or see if your manufacturer has TV mounts for your model.
How do I hide the wires of a wall-mounted TV?
There are many ways to do this. You can run the wires behind the wall using a power kit, use a cable concealer kit, or use tubing and baseboard accessories. These items are usually quite affordable and easy to install, though it will involve some DIY work. You can also have this done quickly by booking a wall hanging handyman via Airtasker. Just add this request to your task post.
How do I remove a TV from a wall mount?
First, unplug all the wires. Unlock your TV mount’s safety mechanism, then tilt and lift it out of the bracket. Have a partner help you with the heavy lifting, then place the TV face-down on a soft surface. Next, unscrew the mount from the TV and detach the bracket from the wall. You can opt to paint and spackle the wall afterwards to fill up the holes you drilled in.
How much weight will anchors hold?
As a general rule, the strength of an anchor depends on three factors. Consider the object being hung, the type of surface it’s installed in, and the type of anchor being used. Plastic anchors can handle light loads of around 13 kg - suitable for towel bars, toilet paper holders, massive mirrors, or pictures. Threaded drywall toggles can handle heavier items (approx. 18 kg). Lastly, hollow wall anchors and toggles can take on loads of up to 22 kg.
How do I mount something without damaging the wall?
There are lots of creative ways to do this. You can use adhesive hooks, decorative tape, thumbtacks, putty, or magnetic paint. For pictures, consider using a wire display or a cute clothesline with decorative pins - velcro, masking, or packaging tape also create minimal damage to walls. You can also book a wall mounting handyman to inquire about other options for your mounting needs.
What do wall hanging and mounting services include?
Our wall hanging and mounting services can cover a variety of items. Whether you need to maximise your space by installing shelves, or simply want to decorate a boring wall, our wall fitting handymen can help you out. They evaluate what supplies you need to hang the item, and secure your shelves, decor, or appliances to the wall.
Tools for wall mount installation
As with all our handyman services, wall hanging and mounting experts usually bring their own tools. This includes pencils, drills, measuring tape, and the right kinds of anchors or clamps for the item you’re hanging or mounting.
Choosing the right anchors or clamps
Picking the right anchors or clamps for your task can be quite tricky. After all, you want your TV securely mounted on the wall. And no one needs a picture gallery whose frames quiver at the slightest movement.
To start, your handyman looks at your task post and bring the supplies that best fit your needs, based on what you described. It helps to be as detailed as possible in the task post. If necessary, your handyman will take a trip to the store and purchase the appropriate items.
Hanging light objects: Dyson wall mounting and medal mounting
For added convenience, you can get your cordless Dyson vacuum mounted, as well as decorative items like your medal collection. Light objects include small picture frames, mirrors, towel bars, toilet paper holders, and Christmas lights. These items are usually hung using screws or plastic anchors.
For hanging items on a brick wall, your handyman may use hooks or brick clips. For non-drilling options, they may suggest using putty or packaging tape. Need help installing a shower faucet onto a bathroom wall? Book a plumber near you instead.
Bike hanging and mounting medium-weight objects
Medium-weight objects include smaller televisions (32-inch screens) and medium-sized shelves. You can also ask for bike hanging, mirror hanging, and mounting more massive pictures. Your handyman may use special picture hangers or threaded drywall toggles for these items.
If you want to hide the wires of your wall-mounted TV, you can ask your handyman to use a cable concealer kit, run the cables through the wall, or install special tubing. Take note that you may need to consult with an electrician beforehand.
Shelf hanging and other heavier items
Items such as large cabinets, shelves, and some TVs need more heavy-duty anchors. Wall anchors and toggles can handle around 22 kg and are typically used for this purpose. Since this kind of task involves heavier items, your handyman may bring along a partner to help them lift and mount the object safely. If your items need assembly before installation, you can book an assembler or tradesman to do it for you.
Removing mounted items
Wall fitters can also help you remove mounted or hung items - perfect for those about to renovate (or move out). Need to get the wall spackled or repaired? Book one of our construction experts to get it sorted out.

Help installing shelving and hanging mirrors
Upper Tooting, Greater London
2nd May 2021
Hiya, I have a few mirrors and shelving I need help installing in a bedroom and hallway, as I do not have any of the tools or know-how to do this myself (Possible tools needed are drill, correct drill bits, level, I do have a hammer and adjustable wrench). I have bought a pack of picture hooks that say will be able to hold the weight up to 100lbs for the mirrors. These are the mirrors that I would like to be hung on drywall: First - https://www.argos.co.uk/product/943415 (I think a simple picture hook will work?) Second - https://royaldesign.co.uk/edge-mirror-60-cm-black#/214081 (60cm) (A cast backplate, see link for an image of the mounting plate, the screws have come with this as well) Third - An old full length mirror (I think a picture hook will work? It has string on the back to hang the mirror, however I don't have any drywall plugs or screws if you think this will be better? Would you be able to supply these?) I have also bought some shelving that I would like some help with installing. The first shelf is a solid oak floating shelf that has come with the brackets, and I would like it installed on a brick and mortar wall. It has three 12mm brackets, the shelf is 32mm thick x 250mm deep x 120mm long. https://www.oakstoredirect.com/solid-oak-floating-shelf--32x250mm-custom-made-to-measure-19789-p.asp Installation guide: https://www.oakstoredirect.com/ekmps/shops/oakstoredirect/resources/Other/guide1.compressed.pdf The second shelf is a radiator shelf that I didn't realise I would need to drill the holes into the shelf to install the brackets, so I would like help measuring where the brackets should sit as per my radiator and brackets being installed onto the shelf. https://www.oakstoredirect.com/easy-fit-solid-natural-oak-floating-radiator-shelf-kit-t2cm-x-d14cm-20450-p.asp The last shelf I wanted to be installed on drywall. https://www.oakstoredirect.com/solid-oak-floating-shelf-kit-20x95mm-standard-29490-p.asp - 20mm thick, 95mm deep, 700mm long. But after receiving it I've realised the floating shelve brackets might be as deep as the wall and won't work for the wall. So I also have these brackets in case it'll be possible to install the shelf with these instead. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GWSN48Q So I'm not sure if this shelf can be installed but would like you to take a look to see if it is possible. Looking for this work to be done sometime this week Tuesday-Thursday after 6pm if possible! Thanks!
Karim did a wonderful job and was super lovely! I'm very happy with the end result. Thanks for the help!
