When it comes to homeowners in the United Kingdom, uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) windows remain one of the best choices. They can last a long time, budget-friendly, and thermal-efficient to boot!

Top PVC Windows related questions
The price of uPVC window repair and replacement can go from £20 to £3,000, depending on the complexity of the issue, size of your window, replacement parts needed, and other factors. Meanwhile, double glazing can cost £55 to £300.
It can take a few hours to a whole day, depending on the severity of your concern, the condition of your window, and the window size.
For minor concerns like small holes and scratches, it’s possible. But bigger concerns like severe damages should be solved by a specialist. Doing serious repairs yourself can lead to danger or even create additional repair costs in the future.
The benefits of hiring someone skilled and experienced also roots from their ability to not only troubleshoot accurately, but also their trusted judgement in picking the right materials, and applying a strategy that can maintain or extend the lifespan of your windows, and not just resorting to quick-fix solutions.
The material properties of uPVC windows make them more energy-efficient, UV-resistant, and better at thermal insulation compared to aluminium windows. They also require minimal upkeep and are budget-friendly. Meanwhile, aluminium windows are known to have non-corrosive properties, making them more durable. They also have smaller and slimmer profiles.
You do not need to prepare your own equipment as your Tasker already has the right tools for the job. Just make sure to properly communicate with them in case new parts or more specialised tools and materials are needed.
Before your Tasker’s arrival, you can ensure a clear working area without obstructions, distractions, children, pets, and other fragile items.
If well looked after, uPVC windows can last for around 20 to 30 years.
It’s good to regularly clean your uPVC windows using a damp cloth, warm water, and mild soap or non-abrasive detergent. Occasional lubrication in the moving parts and locks, plus ensuring proper ventilation are also great ways to prolong their quality.
What do uPVC window repairs near me include?
Homeowners who prioritise low-maintenance living, cost-efficiency, and environmentally-friendly choices are most likely to choose uPVC windows for their spaces for the long run. uPVC windows also help with noise reduction, insulation from unpleasant elements such as intense heat and pollen, and reduced water vapour. Some also pair them with double glazing, further boosting security and energy efficiency. They may look intimidating, but they’re relatively easy to use and stylish to boot!
This is why it’s a must to keep them well-maintained. And in case they act up, there’s no need to replace them immediately. With Airtasker, you can let skilled and experienced Taskers take on the tough job, from inspection to problem-solving to major repairs. After all, leaving your uPVC windows in poor condition can eventually break down especially with U.K.’s extreme weather. Of course, it will lose its ability to insulate, affecting your home’s energy efficiency. Broken uPVC windows are also a threat to your safety.
In the United Kingdom, here are the most common types of uPVC window repairs:
Frame repairs
Spotted some small scratches, dents, and holes on your window frames? Your Tasker can fix them through different ways like utilising epoxy, specialised adhesives, brass cleaners, and other solutions. For more major repairs—like missing sections and obvious warping—it’s best to consult a professional too so they can perform the accurate troubleshooting.Â
Dealing with broken glass? Your Tasker can also do reglazing, where they can replace the glass without changing the whole window frame.More severe cases may require a complete uPVC window replacement.
Seal repairs
If you’re experiencing headaches over fogging seals around the glass panes, apparent light gaps in the edges, unusual cold air coming in, and significantly higher energy bills, your seals may already be damaged. Noticing peels and tears also calls for a serious fix! Broken seals can come from improper window installation, exposure to extreme weather fluctuations, moisture, and normal ageing. Tip: Struggling with your window’s hardware—like not being able to properly close or open the windows—can be a sign of damaged seals as well.
Good news is your hired Tasker can attend to these concerns. They will properly remove the damaged seal, thoroughly clean the area, pick the right seal, and apply it accurately, including the hard-to-reach corners that need more attention.Â
Weather stripping uPVC windows? You don’t have to do it on your own, too! Your booked specialist has the ability to inspect air leaks, cut the weatherstripping strips following the right measurement, and more. Weatherstripping can reduce heating and cooling costs by around 5% to 20%.
Aside from uPVC window repair near you, the platform can help you get in touch with Taskers skilled to fix other parts of your house, such as doors, sinks, and staircases, among others.

I am looking for a reliable, local handyman to complete a bundle of 3 small home maintenance tasks. Below is the exact breakdown of what needs doing: * **Task 1: PVC Window Handles** * **The Issue:** 4–5 double-glazing window handles (upstairs and downstairs) have become loose. They need checking and tightening so the windows pull in firmly and lock securely. * **Task 2: Plug Socket & Blown Plaster** * **The Issue:** A white double plug socket base plate is loose from the wall. The plaster surrounding the back box has blown/cracked away. * **Requirement:** Re-secure the white faceplate safely to the wall box and patch/smooth the missing plaster surrounding the edges so it is neat and ready for paint. * **Task 3: Bedroom Door Hinge** * **The Issue:** A single internal wood bedroom door has dropped because the top hinge screws have stripped/pulled out of the worn frame. * **Requirement:** Repair the wooden frame casing (e.g., plugging the holes or reinforcing the wood) so new screws can bite tightly, and rehang the door straight. **What is Required for the Quote:** 1. **Materials:** Please include the cost of basic consumables (wall filler, sandpaper, and wood plugs/screws) in your bid. 2. **Tools:** Please bring your own hand tools and a ladder to reach any upstairs windows if necessary. *(Note: I have attached photos of the socket, door frame, and handles below so you can see exactly what needs fixing.)*

Job Type: Window Repair / Property Maintenance We are looking for an experienced window repair specialist to investigate and rectify a leak from a UPVC double-glazed window in a residential property. Problem The living room window has recently started leaking during rainfall. Water enters from the internal bottom corner of the window, beneath the handle side, and pools on the window sill. The leak can build up relatively quickly during periods of rain. The issue appears to be isolated to one corner of the window. The window closes and locks correctly, including at the top, with no obvious movement or play. However, there may be an issue with the external frame, sealant, drainage channels, or alignment, as part of the outside section appears slightly distorted. Photos are available. Required Works Diagnose source of water ingress. Inspect internal and external seals. Check drainage/weep holes. Check window alignment, hinges and locking points. Inspect external frame, sealant and surrounding brickwork. Carry out repair where possible or provide recommendations and quotation for further remedial works. Ideal Contractor Experience repairing UPVC windows. Experience diagnosing rainwater ingress and window leaks. Fully equipped with tools and materials for minor repairs. Access Occupants can provide access most days, except Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additional Information This issue is considered urgent due to forecast rain and concerns about potential damage to flooring and internal finishes. 2 upvc windows (not opening) & re-attach internal door(broken frame)
£225

30th Apr 2026
2 x upvc windows which will not open. The handles go up and down but think there is a problem with the internal mechanism which means they won’t open. Also, I have an internal door to reattach. Part of the frame has splintered off near the top hinge so this requires fixing and the door re-hanging.

Pvc Juliette doors, pvc windows and skylight need attention
£50
Bromley, Greater London
21st Apr 2026
Job one: My Juliette doors no longer close properly. The handle doesn't turn up. The key won't turn. At the bottom of the door I can see a gap between the door and the frame which is letting water in. Job two: the locks/handles on my pvc ground floor windows do not work. I have the keys but when the handle is turned it's not turning the mechanism inside so the window can't open Jon three: the seal around my skylight seems to have moved and it's allowing water to enter
