You’ll find that most Taskers who offer CPR training have all the tools and equipment necessary. You may want to have a pen and notebook ready to take down notes while taking the course. If your Tasker conducts some of the sessions via video conferencing call, you’ll need a desktop or laptop with a fast internet connection and webcam.

They are thought to be the same, but they’re not. Heart attacks can sometimes cause cardiac arrest. A heart attack means that a blocked artery prevents oxygen-rich blood from getting to a part of the heart. This can happen in days or weeks. Cardiac arrest involves a change in the heartbeat, so not enough blood gets to the lungs and brain, which causes the patient to lose consciousness - this can be sudden, and death can soon follow.

In general, formal training and certification aren’t necessary to do CPR - you only need to know how to perform the techniques. You can call emergency services and continue to perform CPR until professional medical help arrives. If you want to feel more confident with your CPR skills, you can take courses to further your knowledge in administering CPR. Why not hire a professional on Airtasker to teach you?

Yes. There may be a disaster or car accident, and you may be on the scene before emergency services arrive, and there could be unconscious people who need CPR. Even if you and those around you practice a healthy lifestyle by eating right, exercising regularly and don’t have a history of heart problems, there may be instances where other people may need CPR.

Yes, but this may not be as effective in preparing you to do CPR in real life. An excellent way to get the most out of your CPR training is to combine any CPR training online with face-to-face interaction with a CPR trainer. Watching a video online may be informative, but performing techniques then getting immediate feedback can help you absorb the lessons better.

After taking the requisite courses for CPR, you can get CPR certification, then having a practical assessment session at qualified organisations like Red Cross or other similar agencies. You can hire a qualified professional to give you CPR training, go to a certified agency to take an assessment test, and get a certification if you pass.

What do CPR training services include?

CPR training services include all the tasks and activities necessary to teach students to become skilled in administering this life-saving technique to those who need it. This can consist of learning how to assess the situation and know when and how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) or apply CPR.

The course can include learning how to apply CPR the right way and the correct ways to apply them to infants, children and adults.

Assessing the situation

Your CPR instructor can teach you the essential first step: assess the situation and determine whether it’s safe to perform CPR in the immediate vicinity. If necessary, they may show you how to move the patient safely to another area. In some cases, you want to make sure you are physically fit to do this.

Early into the emergency, your instructor can advise you to exhaust all means of getting help, whether it’s to alert bystanders or call for medical services. If the person is unconscious but breathing, your Tasker can teach you how to place the patient in the recovery position until help arrives. If they are unconscious and not breathing, your Tasker can show you how to apply CPR.

Performing CPR

Performing CPR can vary depending on whether the patient is an infant, child or adult. Some Taskers can demonstrate how to do this on one or all three types of patients. You may have to specify which kind of patient you wish to learn to do CPR when you book the service.

This method can include teaching you how to clear the patient’s airway if necessary, give rescue breaths, and do chest compressions correctly and at the right time. After your Tasker demonstrates the technique, they can ask you to perform CPR on a training dummy while guiding you through the process.

Using an AED

In cases where the patient suffered cardiac arrest, your CPR instructor-Tasker can advise and teach you how to use an Automated External Defibrillator or AED. An AED may be available at your workplace, and you may consider getting one as part of your first aid kit at home.

Your Tasker can demonstrate how to use this tool appropriately, then have you try to use it yourself. As with the CPR techniques, they can guide you through the process of using the AED on a training dummy.

Testing

Towards the end of the training course, some Taskers may require you to take a practical exam. They can ask you to perform CPR on training mannequins and apply an AED. Your Tasker can monitor your performance and make suggestions for improvement if necessary. They can have you redo the exam until you perform the techniques without flaw.
