Install Blind Cord Safety Cleats on 15 Windows (Victorian Law Compliance) I need someone to install cord safety cleats (little hooks) on the wall next to 15 windows in my rental property. What are cord safety cleats? - Small plastic or metal hooks that attach to the wall - They hold the blind cords up high so kids can't get tangled in them - Victorian law requires this from December 1, 2025 YOU'LL BE WORKING WITH: Type of Blinds:Roller blinds (pull the cord, blind goes up/down) - Metal beaded chain (like those little ball chains on a keychain) - They're in a CLOSED LOOP (circle shape, no loose ends) Number of Windows: 15 windows total 🔧 WHAT YOU NEED TO DO (STEP BY STEP): 1. **Measure 1600mm (1.6 meters) from the floor** - That's about shoulder height on most adults 2. **Mark the spot on the wall** next to the window where the cleat will go 3. **Screw the cleat into the wall** at that height (drill holes first if needed) 4. **Wrap the blind cord around the cleat** so the loop hangs no more than 22cm (220mm) below the cleat 5. **Test it pulls tight** - The cord should stay on the cleat when you pull the blind up/down 📏 IMPORTANT MEASUREMENTS: **Height:** Cleat must be at least **1600mm (160cm)** above the floor **Cord Loop:** Once wrapped around the cleat, the hanging loop must be **shorter than 220mm (22cm)** **Why these numbers matter:** Victorian law specifies these exact measurements for child safety ### **Materials:** https://www.bunnings.com.au/windoware-curtain-accessory-clear-plastic-cleat-2-pack_p1288845 - [ ] **30 x wall screws** (2 per cleat, usually come with cleats)
