Consider the distance from the shop to your address and traffic conditions to add to the time needed if you make them buy the battery. Â
Taskers can assist you, but it would be better to let them do 100% of the work. After all, that’s why you hired them! What do Car Battery Replacement services include?
Car battery replacement services usually include several steps. First, your car is towed to the garage. Mechanics then remove the old, damaged or non-working car battery. They then install the new car battery. If you haven’t bought the new battery yet, most hired mechanics or specialists can make the purchase for you, if their garage doesn’t have the right battery for your car in stock.
Note that this service is for replacing batteries of conventional engines instead of electric cars. This service also does not imply replacing the batteries in car key fobs.
Towing or transporting your car
Since you won’t be able to start your car, you’ll need a way to transport your car to the garage to get serviced. Some mechanics may offer a towing or transport service to get your car to their garage. Mechanics can attach your car to a tow truck, or place it on a flatbed truck. Your chosen mechanic should be able to tow or transport your car without damaging it.
Replacement service: removing the dead car battery
Your mechanic removes the old battery from your car, regardless of its make, model, and brand. Whether it is a Nissan, Ford, Mazda, BMW, Volvo or other car brands, they can remove the old battery. Mechanics disconnect the terminals to ensure its safe removal. The old battery is placed on a stack of old newspapers or cloth to catch any leaking liquids. Mechanics use safety gloves, and a mask and goggles as batteries contain dangerous substances like acid. Â
New battery installation
Mechanics can put in your new battery while following best practices. Once the old battery is removed, they clean the battery terminals and clamps to prevent grounding, decreased conductivity or other issues. The mechanic uses a wire brush, baking soda and water to clean out the terminals and clamps, removing dirt, corrosion, or residue. After installing the new battery, the mechanic tests it by starting up your car, activating the wipers, radio, or other electronic accessories.
Old battery disposal
This is another service that your mechanic can do for you, as you cannot toss old car batteries in the rubbish bin. Old batteries have dangerous chemicals that pose a serious health hazard. The mechanic can take your old battery to a recycling centre or treatment facility. Be sure to list this as part of your service, unless you already have a recycling centre or garage in mind to take the old battery.
Car battery purchase
If you don’t have a replacement battery ready and the garage doesn’t stock the right one, some mechanics may offer this service for a small fee. Description: need a qualified mobile auto electrician/ experienced mechanic to repair a cooling fan electrical issue. The Problem: The radiator fan does not spin when the engine gets hot or when the AC is turned on, causing the car to overheat in traffic. I tried replacing the relay with another used one, which did not work. The Key Clue: A mechanic recently poked a screwdriver into the wiring/relay area under the bonnet, and the fan started spinning perfectly on its own. This proves the fan motor itself is completely functional, but there is a loose connection, a corroded terminal, or a broken wire somewhere in that circuit that needs to be secured. Requirements: You must be an auto electrician or a highly experienced vehicle mechanic. Please bring everything necessary to diagnose and repair the loose connection and fix it.

I have a vw golf mk7 with a subwoofer (Alpine SWE-815) installed and it cuts in and out I removed the infotainment system in the glove box and can see the wires which may be loose as when putting it back in the sub cut out and taking it out a little and it works. I’m after a rewire for subwoofer glove box wiring. The wires to the battery and the sub itself are fine just those in the glovebox. I live in High Wycombe and work in Chalfont.

P0136 engine fault code for bank 1 oxygen sensor no.2 on renault captur 1.5 dci. Changed both sensor post and pre cat, also fitted new DPF pressure sensor and fault comes back, once cleared. Suspect there maybe a wiring fault and need an auto electrician to check this.
