The Problem: The radiator fan does not spin when the engine gets hot or when the AC is turned on, causing the car to overheat in traffic. I tried replacing the relay with another used one, which did not work. The Key Clue: A mechanic recently poked a screwdriver into the wiring/relay area under the bonnet, and the fan started spinning perfectly on its own. This proves the fan motor itself is completely functional, but there is a loose connection, a corroded terminal, or a broken wire somewhere in that circuit that needs to be secured. I have a Vauxhall Vectra VXR. The interior blower fan for the hot / cold air keeps coming on intermittently even when the car is off and keeps draining the battery. I think possibly a broken wire or short circuit some where. The blower fan was recently replaced as the previous fan had failed. The new heater blower works fine but for whatever reason after a while it just comes on intermittently when the car is off. From what I have researched it seems that the person who fitted the new blower fan may have broken a wire or damaged the wiring from the connector. Many thanks
