The existing timber stairs are old and have significant rot, particularly around the treads and lower sections, so I’m looking to replace the stairs rather than repair individual boards. Preferred option * Merbau timber treads * Galvanised/powder-coated metal stair stringers if suitable * Outdoor-rated fixings * Built for good long-term durability and low maintenance I’m also open to alternative designs/materials if there is a more cost-effective option that will still last well — for example treated structural timber with Merbau treads.
