Allow me to provide a clearer explanation of how the router is already connected and working via WiFi. What I want to do is to set up a VPN that ensures the security of my switch, NAS and my network. Additionally, I want my NAS to allow me direct access to the device from the internet for file transfer. I'm open to any discussion.

Hikvision nvr programming and port forwarding to setup

I have an RT-AC680 as the main router, connected to my optus sagecom modem, and I have (tried to) setup my GT-AC2900 as a repeater node in the garage. The intent is to extend the same WiFi network for my wifi security cameras (i.e. not create a new network). The repeater does not have any connected devices, and the cameras have a weak network connection. I have an fttc nbn connection to the house, and a box in the garage for cabling.
