Our cornice was designed to run around a gas heater flue, that has since been removed. We are looking to neaten this up and have a continuous cornice along the wall. Painting is not required - just any necessary plasterwork to fill the hole in the ceiling, remove the offset cornice pieces and fill in with a continuous cornice. The cornice is a Victorian gutter style, but not original - most likely a replica installed in the 80s or later. I have not been able to match it against any products online; the gap might need to be plastered in-situ to match.
