Why hire a solar panel cleaning service through Airtasker?

Just book a solar panel cleaning service via Airtasker.

When you book a cleaner through our platform, you get a budget-friendly, reliable solar panel cleaner in minutes, without going over your budget. There’s no need to wait for an available cleaner at the solar energy company. Further, you can feel relieved about not doing the cleaning yourself!

Put up the task, indicate all your needs and specifications, and wait for the offers to come in. You could even book a Tasker in minutes! It’s that easy to save on your energy bills. To start booking a solar panel cleaning service near you, select the “Post a task” button on this page.

Top Solar Panel Cleaning related questions

No need to provide your own cleaning tools and equipment! Following your agreement, your Tasker arrives with everything they’ll need for the job. This saves you from the hassle of having to buy squeegees or soft cloths yourself. You’ll need to provide the water supply yourself, though. And if your panels are on the roof, you may need to provide a ladder for your Tasker.

To clean your solar panels, start by shutting off the system and bringing them to ground level (if they are on your roof). Remove any loose debris or bird droppings, then hose the panels down, then wipe with a squeegee or soft cloth. For a more convenient (and far safer) way to clean your solar panels, book a Tasker instead. It’ll save you hours of cleaning, plus you won’t need to get on the roof yourself!

Two to four times a year is enough. Schedule your appointments after a long summer and after heavy snowfall, since these events tend to cause a lot of dirt that requires intensive cleaning. If you don’t want to get stuck waiting for your solar panel company to attend to your request during these peak periods, book a solar panel cleaner through our platform instead.

The average cost to clean solar panels is $8 per panel or around $320 for 40 panels. This could go higher or lower depending on the size, number, location and condition of your panels. For complete details, check out our solar panel cleaning cost guide.

What does a solar panel cleaning service include?

When booking through our platform, expect a cleaner who has experience in cleaning both roofs and ground solar panels, the necessary tools for cleaning your source of green energy. They can also provide some solar panel maintenance advice. The goal is to clean your set-up so that it can maximize the light in your area.

The details of what your solar panel cleaner can or can’t do may vary, so it’s better to be specific in your task post. In general, though, cleaning solar panels is pretty straightforward. This is what you can expect from your Tasker when you book this service through our platform:

Shutdown and equipment set-up

First, your Tasker shuts down the system before they start cleaning. Then, they’ll begin setting up their tool kit. If your panels are installed on the ground, this is easy enough; otherwise, your Tasker goes up on the roof to work there (or to move the panels to ground level). Make sure they have a hose or faucet near the area where you want them to start cleaning.

Note: It’s best to schedule solar panel cleaning early in the day or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat of the day and smeared dirt (from when the water evaporates too quickly while you clean).

Solar panel cleaning

Next, your cleaner removes debris, dust, or leaves. Then, they’ll hose down the panels. If your cleaning appointment is scheduled during the colder months, make sure they have access to lukewarm water. Using hot water on cold panels can result in cracks.

Once the panels are soaked, your cleaner wipes them with a squeegee, soft brush, or cloth. They should not use detergents or abrasive materials on the modules, since this can damage them. If your panels have oil stains, they may use isopropyl alcohol as a spot cleaner.

Final inspection of solar panels

After scrubbing the panels, your hired expert gives them a final rinse and squeegees them dry. Since typical mains water is hard (mineral-rich), your Tasker must do this last step very well. Mineral deposits can harden on the panels as they dry. This can cause problems with your panels later on. Once your panels are clean and dry, your cleaner mounts them again, turns on the system, and checks to see if they work well. After that, they’ll be on their way.
