1. Remove all loose paint * Scrape every area where the paint is lifting or flaking. * Use a sharp scraper rather than trying to sand the loose paint flat. * Feather the edges of the remaining sound paint with 120–180 grit sandpaper. 2. Repair the damaged timber From your photos, there are areas where the timber appears weathered and slightly split, particularly around the horizontal moulding. For shallow damage: * Use a good exterior-grade flexible wood filler. * Push it into cracks and damaged sections. * Let it cure fully. * Sand progressively to around 180 grit. For any soft/spongy timber, don’t just fill it. The decayed section needs to be cut back to sound timber and repaired/replaced. 3. Deal with the joints/cracks There are visible cracks where the mouldings meet and around the window frame. Use a high-quality exterior flexible paintable sealant rather than ordinary decorator’s caulk. This is particularly important because timber expands and contracts. 4. Prime any exposed bare timber This is important. Supply and paint with - Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin This would be my choice for the window frame, timber mouldings and exterior trim shown in my photos. It is designed for exterior wood, metal, masonry, plastic and other surfaces, water-shedding, vapour-permeable and resistant to cracking, blistering, flaking, rain and severe weather. Zinsser AllCoat Exterior Satin — 2 coats and give particularly exposed areas such as the window sill and projecting mouldings an additional coat. The technical data specifically recommends an extra layer on high-exposure areas such as sills and eaves.

Hello! I am experienced DIYer in need of some help. We are moving out of a commercial unit and need help demolishing a stud wall (with my guidance), filling holes and repainting a commercial unit. Floors, furniture, sockets, switches and other areas must be properly protected. The finished work should have **clean edges, even coverage and a professional finish**, with no paint left on floors, fittings or other surfaces.
