I have a timber floor joist which requires lowering to accommodate a shower base. The space below is usable, so I want to the joist to be as shallow as practicable. Steel is to be considered if it helps minimise the depth. I'll want drawings/plans, calculations to show deflection, and RPEQ sign-off. See the joist with notches. Interested in building a deck with verandah in the backyard. Deck will be 4000mm x 3250mm and 180mm high. Roof will be 3130mm high from the ground and attached to first floor balcony. Roof will be solid, ideally with a clear skylight in a couple positions to allow for light to pass through. I have already lodged and paid for a planning permit application with Kingston Council; however they have returned with a list of demands that would be better fulfilled by a qualified person (e.g. elevation diagrams, shadow diagrams).
