Hopefully a very easy one but wanting to buy/install a smart lock (fingerprint) However, not sure if my current door and lock system would make this easy. My wife says we may need a whole new door! Hoping to video call a locksmith to show them my door and confirm if a new door is needed or we can simply just replace the old lock with a new smart one. - open to installation costs as well

Advice needed for an old existing single dwelling home, to rebuild a portion of the garage to comply with Australian fire standards and BCA. Intention is to rebuild existing size of garage, front wall with roller door is brick, roof and 3 remaining walls to be Stratco style wall. The front brick wall connects to a brick wall that returns towards the brick facade of the house. We have been advised this may not comply with latest fire codes. Looking for advice to lodge a planning permit with a building surveyor.

After changing my ISP modem and network credentials, my Hikvision security system is only partially back online. The PoE CCTV camera is working, but the doorbell (DS-KV6113-WPE1) lost its credentials and is offline. I’m looking for someone familiar with Hikvision / HiLook systems who can re-bind the door station to the NVR. Doorbell: Hikvision DS-KV6113-WPE1 NVR: HiLook NVR-108MH-C/8P NVR is connected to the new modem Monitor and USB mouse are connected to the NVR Current network confirmed NVR credentials available Doorbell credentials unknown This appears to be a credential re-sync / re-registration issue, not a cabling or hardware fault. I’m open to a remote session if possible, or a quick local visit (Tewantin) at a reasonable rate. Please only respond if you have hands-on experience with Hikvision/HiLook PoE systems, static IPs and device authentication.

Build remote-closure spider catcher-a small cage attached at the end of a very long pole ( I have a long aluminium pole that you could pick up to use if you’ll be in the Brunswick East area) that can trap insects/spiders. The cage should have a hinged door that stays open until I pull a cord at the handle end and it closes securely. The spider must not be able to climb out once the door is shut (add mesh or keep gaps small)). I don’t have to be close to the spider at all- operation should be from the handle. Please advise re cost of materials & labour
