I am the director of a construction company that has completed a Small Business Restructure and requires urgent professional assistance to stabilise and formalise tax compliance. Current matters requiring immediate attention: • Approximately $85,000 activity statement balance in ATO Online Services • Multiple overdue BAS periods • Overdue company income tax returns • Outstanding TPAR lodgement • Review of whether any activity statement liabilities are estimated/default assessments • Reconciliation of GST and PAYG • ATO engagement strategy including payment arrangement and interest/penalty remission review Important disclosure: There is currently no accounting software file available (no Xero/MYOB) and no maintained bookkeeping records. The reconstruction will need to be completed from: • Bank statements • Loan statements • Crypto exchange statements • ASX trading summaries • Property portfolio documentation • Equity drawdown and loan movement records This will require full financial reconstruction from source documentation. Following stabilisation, I require broader advisory support including: • Company and group structuring review • Personal tax planning • Investment property structuring • Capital gains and trading treatment (ASX and crypto) • Treatment of gambling activity (losses/profits where relevant) • Family ownership arrangements • Forward-looking tax strategy aligned with development activity Minimum requirements: • Registered Tax Agent (TPB registration number required) • CA or CPA qualification preferred • Professional Indemnity insurance • Demonstrated experience with BAS reconstruction and ATO debt negotiation • Experience with construction businesses highly regarded This engagement will require structured reconstruction, technical tax expertise, and strategic advisory capability. While one relevant jurisdiction involves Victoria and health privacy legislation, the research must not be limited to that jurisdiction. The search should also cover comparable Acts, tribunals, and courts in other Australian jurisdictions. The value of this task lies in identifying analogous reasoning and outcomes, including where the statutory framework differs but similar privacy and confidentiality principles are applied. While searching can be an open-ended task, I would like to time-limit the search, including preparation of a concise summary of findings, to 3 hours.
