We’re a Fitzroy-based clothing brand looking for an experienced machinist or hand sewer to assist with a short-term production rework project. The role involves: > Sewing replacement buttons onto wool outerwear where required. > Reinforcing existing buttons to improve durability and prevent future issues. > Most buttons require a hand-sewn shank stitch due to the thickness of the wool fabric. Details: Approximately 60 coats, ranging from 2–5 buttons per coat. All materials and buttons supplied. Work to be completed on-site at our Fitzroy studio. Casual rate: $35/hour. Experience with garment production, sample making or high-quality clothing alterations is preferred. This is an initial short-term project, with the potential for future production and sample sewing work for the right person.

I love knitting but absolutely hate weaving/sewing in the ends of the yarn at the end. I have a shawl I knitted last year and I still haven’t brought myself to be able to sew in the rest of the yarns ends on it. Turn my pain into your gain! If you are a knitter who doesn’t hate this task as much as I do, then I’d love to pay you to do this arduous task for me. I’m happy for you to pick up the shawl to complete the task or I can drop it to you anywhere around Canberra. It is a very large shawl (takes up my entire 3 seater sofa) but there are only a handful of ends to sew in from where I started new balls of yarn, and where I cast on and off the work - I would say no more than 10-12 yarns ends that need sewing/weaving in.
