What do gutter repair services include?
Gutter repair services include all the activities needed to ensure your guttering system diverts all the rainwater or snowmelt to your drainage system. As an essential part of home maintenance, this includes inspecting your gutters, filling or patching up holes in your gutters, replacing broken segments of the gutter and fixing the downpipes.
You can hire this service for most types of gutters, be it cast iron gutters or more modern ones made of vinyl, steel, aluminium or other material.
Inspecting the gutters
Your hired tradie begins your roof gutter repair by going up on your roof to inspect every component of your guttering system. If your gutters are clogged with dead leaves, twigs and other debris, some gutter repair experts can clean this out.
They can check each section of the gutters for corrosion, leaks, holes, broken sections, clogged areas and other issues. They can also check for damage on gutter-related parts like fascia boards. Some gutter repair experts can fix or replace damaged or rotted fascia boards. After determining the cause of any issues, they perform the appropriate fixes.
Cleaning out gutters
Your gutter repair expert can do simple cleaning of your gutters, and this can include removing debris like twigs, dead leaves, clumped up dirt or even bird’s nests. They can clean out your gutters to make it easier to find leaks, breaks, bent sections or other issues with your gutters. Note that if your gutter repair expert finds any pests inhabiting your gutters or downpipes, you may have to hire a separate pest control service.
Patching up holes in gutters

They can use standard methods of gutter leak repairs, such as applying roof patching cement for small holes or patches of metal flashing fixed with patching cement for larger ones. Some gutter repair experts may use these or other proven techniques, materials or tools.
Replacing damaged parts
Some parts of your gutter may be damaged beyond any patch-up job. Your hired tradesman can replace any damaged part of the gutters to ensure it continues to divert water runoff to your drainage system. Some gutter repair experts can replace soffits or fascia boards if the damage is severe.
If there is more severe damage to the fascia boards, soffits or other larger parts that make up your guttering, you may need to hire a carpenter.
Fixing gutter leaks
Your hired gutter repair expert checks your downpipes for leaks or breaks. It’s vital to ensure the downpipes divert all the water from your roof straight to your drain as any downpour can damage your landscaping. They also check that it isn’t clogged by twigs, dead leaves or other debris.
If your gutter repair specialist recommends getting rid of large pests like snakes or rodents first, you may hire a pest control service.

Fix 6m high gutter brackets

I need someone who is trained and insured to operate at a ~6m height to fix 5 spike brackets holding a ~4m long section of gutter on a high set Queenslander. Because the brackets are loose (and 2 have pulled out of the facia board) the gutter is pulling away from the roof. The gutter sits above a covered deck; however I don’t think repairs could be done from the deck. Refer to the attached photographs.
