Reliable and caring. Thanks for looking after my dog☺️

Looking for a dog sitter

$250

Jordan is a very warm, personable and genuinely great young man. Jordan was the best dog minder on Airtasker I have come across to date. Buddy was returned in a very happy and calm state and I will be using Jordan’s services again! Jordan is very experienced with canine behaviour and understands dogs extremely well. My dog is a highly anxious, intact, young male border collie. I highly recommend Jordan for any dog related tasks!

Why hire a dog sitter through Airtasker?

Taking your dog with you to all your trips and errands would be great, but sadly, that’s not possible. The best alternative? Making sure your pet is well-cared for and loved, even while you’re out. And while you could probably get a relative or friend to watch over your dog, wouldn’t it be great if you got someone who would be solely dedicated to your pet’s care? That’s where Airtasker's dog sitting service comes in.

When you request a dog sitter via Airtasker, you get to work with dog sitters in your area who are reviewed and rated by fellow pet owners in your community. This is better than having a relative, friend, or random neighbour watch over your dog, especially if they're not that familiar with pets themselves.

Taskers can also try to tailor-fit their rates to your needs and budget, so you're more likely to get a loving and trusted (yet pocket-friendly) sitter. Ready to book a dog sitter near you? Tap the “Post a task” button to get started.

Top Dog Sitting related questions

The average cost of dog sitting is $35, and this could go higher or lower. Check out our cost guide for more information.

You can find a home dog sitting service in minutes through Airtasker! When you tap the “Post a task” button, you’ll be asked to indicate all the details of your task - how many pets, when you’ll be out, your location, your budget, your pet’s needs, etc. Then, wait for the offers to come in. Pick the one that best fits your needs, then tap to confirm your appointment. It’s that easy!

Here are some things you should check on before you set a dog and house sitting appointment:

  • Your dog’s supplies

  • Detailed instructions for your sitter, including administration of medication

  • Toys and treats for your pet

  • The fence, yard, and home security systems

  • A tour of the house for your sitter, including where the leash & carrier are kept, cleaning supplies, and the thermostat

  • Contact information your sitter may need including your own, the landlord’s, and your vet

Have ample preparations for your dog, your home, and your sitter. This includes making sure your pet and the sitter are comfortable with each other, conducting an interview with your sitter prior to the stay, and keeping communication lines open while you’re out. Make it a point to know your sitter’s operating policies as well, so there won’t be any confusion that could cause discomfort for the sitter or your pet.

While the details may vary depending on your pet/s’ needs, here are some basic questions to get the ball rolling with your puppy sitter:

  • What dog sitting experience do you have?

  • Do you have business credentials?

  • Do you have any training related to pet care?

  • How do you deal with two dogs fighting each other?

  • Can we see how you get along with my dog?

  • Do you have a written contract or agreement?

The advantage of in-home dog sitting is that your dog is the sole focus of the sitter. They won’t have to adjust to a new environment, or risk catching diseases. But, pet sitting usually means having to make your pet adjust to a stranger in the home. Plus, your dog misses out on a chance to socialise. Either way, it’s advisable to do research on the sitter or daycare and work closely with them to ensure the well-being of your pet.

While this may vary from Tasker to Tasker, some may offer both dog and house sitting services (for a higher fee, of course). This is an advantage since your house will retain that “lived in” look that can help keep burglars away. If you’d like to find dog and house sitters near you, tap the “Post a task” button to get started!

What do dog sitting services include?

Airtasker’s dog sitting service can be straightforward. While the specifics may vary from Tasker to Tasker, and depend on your pet’s own needs, here are the things that you can expect a dog sitter to do.

Puppy collection and delivery

Your puppy sitter can arrange for the collection and delivery of your puppy. A puppy sitter or pet transport service can collect your pup. Then, when you get home from your trip, the sitter can bring your pup back to you.

Feeding & administering medication

Your puppy sitter relies on your detailed instructions for feeding your pet, providing enough water, and giving them their vitamins and medicine (if applicable). Make sure you have enough supplies before you leave, whether it’s kibble, canned food, home-cooked meals, or raw food. Make sure your sitter is familiar with food prep and portioning. Be clear about what food you allow your dog to eat, and what they’re allergic to.

If your pet is on a special diet, make sure your sitter is informed. The same goes for medication - prepare written instructions and review them verbally before you leave. Don’t just rely on a note on the counter! Good preparation is essential to making sure your pet stays healthy even while you’re out.

Cleaning up pet mess

Puppy sitting also includes cleaning up a pet’s mess. Let your Tasker know your dog’s signal for when they need to “go”, your pet’s usual spot, and how you usually handle dog mess. Make sure your sitter also knows where the cleaning supplies are kept, in case your dog can’t make it to their spot.

Exercise and playtime

Your pet sitter also makes sure your pet/s get enough exercise, playtime, and even training while you’re out. Let your puppy sitter know if they can take your dog on walks while you’re out, and how often this needs to be done. If you have any rules for walks, such as cleaning the paws afterwards or avoiding a rowdy neighbour dog, make sure you tell your sitter about these. Your puppy sitter also makes sure that your pet stays secure at all times, whether inside or outside your property.

Pets, cuddles, and TLC

Your pet will need all the love they can get while you’re out for a friend’s wedding or week-long business trip. Your dog sitter makes sure your pooch gets petted and cuddled regularly. Let your puppy sitter know if they can give your pet treats, and how many they can have per day. Ideally, your pet and the Tasker have met prior to the puppy sitting appointment, so your Tasker will be able to pet and scratch your dog in all their favourite spots.

Puppy grooming

Grooming may include brushing your puppy’s fur and trimming their nails. To avoid overwhelming your puppy, the puppy sitter may brush your puppy’s coat a few minutes at a time throughout the day. If you want to come home to a fresh-smelling pup and a clean house, go ahead and book a sofa cleaning or house cleaning service on our platform as well!

Updates on your pet

If pet updates are part of your Tasker’s arrangement, you can expect an email or message from your sitter on a regular basis. In case of emergencies, you can have your sitter call a relative in the area or your vet - just to make sure your dog is alright.

Lottie is 4 years old and experienced some back pain recently. She is acting like her normal happy self now, but we need a dog sitter who will be careful to not allow her to jump off furniture, or run up/ down stairs. We need a pet sitter, at your house, from 2pm today until 10pm. - She won't need to be taken on a walk - She is not on any medication - She has separation anxiety and can't be left alone - She will need to be carried up and down stairs, and lifted onto and off the couch/bed - You will need to watch her to make sure she doesn't jump up or down - No other pets and no children please Lottie is a lovely, cuddly girl who needs a lap to sleep on while you watch TV this Saturday night (tonight). She is fairly easy to care for if you are looking forward to a quiet night at home. Her normal pet sitter is not available. We live in Five Dock and are happy to bring her to you.

Puppysit / Dog minding 12 week old puppy — one night only. Your place

$80

Bondi Beach, New South Wales

8th Feb 2026

Hi there puppy lovers! We have rescued the most adorable 12 week old kelpie-cross puppy named Biscuit and need your help! We need to attend a work conference tomorrow (Monday) from midday until Tuesday morning. If we were to drop her at your place, would you be able to puppysit? Given Biscuit’s age, she is not yet trained and has only had her first vaccination so can’t stay at a puppy hotel until she’s older. She is also teething so needs her chewy toys and to be watched. She’s been using the floor nappies on her own to toilet but we take her outside a few times a day and first thing in the morning for toileting. She’s been wormed, flea’d, microchipped, and is very loved. We will bring her food, little bed, blanket, soft crate for bed time, chew toys, bowls, treats etc. We ask that you send photos and updates to my phone through the course of the puppysitting and be available should we call or become available to collect her sooner, possibly Monday evening. She will need to be fed mid afternoon, evening, and morning and have fresh water provided throughout her stay. She will need to be toileted before bed, calmed down with lights low or off and energy softened before being put to bed in her soft crate, zipped up. This is a boundary training thing and also helps her humans get some sleep. We prefer that you’re eastern suburbs-based as we’re in Bondi but open to the right puppy lover. LOOK AT HER LITTLE FACE 🥹😍♥️ Puppy hotels are around $90 per night so have priced the task accordingly. Thanks so much!

The absolute best Airtaskers! Compassionate, patient, kind, practical, attentive and generous. Ngan and Sam sent constant updates about our puppy Biscuit and she was obviously well looked after — almost like a puppy holiday! Can’t recommend Ngan and Sam enough. A+
