What does a gyprock installation services include?
Installing or repairing gyprock drywall generally involves assessing your space, measuring, cutting, applying adhesive, hanging, joining, and finishing. But there can be some variation in the method, depending on where your gyprock is being installed. Here are some of the most common drywall installation and repair jobs:
Gyprock wall installation
Installing gyprock walls starts with measuring the wall dimensions and cutting the plasterboard sheet with a knife. Your plasterboard installer will do one sheet at a time, laying sheets of gyprock on the wall studs and attaching with adhesive, then nailing into place. They’ll repeat the process until all gaps are filled with gyprock sheeting, before joining any edges (using angle beads on corners) and coating with Gyprock compounds. Once the compounds are dry, they’ll sand the surface for a smooth finish.
Gyprock ceiling installation
Installing gyprock ceilings involves a similar process to walls, with a few key differences. After measuring and cutting, your installer will then measure and mark locations for electrical wires and fixtures. They’ll cut these holes using a small saw before attaching the gyprock sheets, one at a time, to the ceiling joists with adhesive. Next they’ll screw the sheet into place before moving onto the next sheet, ensuring minimal gaps between sheets. Your installer will use a ladder and will most likely work with a second person to carefully place each sheet on the ceiling. After the ceiling is complete, they’ll join the edges with compounds (up to 3 layers may be required) before sanding smooth.
Gyprock cornice installation
Once walls and ceiling are in place, your handyman will install gyprock cornices to neatly mask the joins. They’ll measure each room along the top of the wall, from corner to corner, to determine the length of each cornice piece. They’ll mark each cornice and cut it to size, using a mitre box to get the right angles for each end. Next, they’ll line up each cornice, checking that the lengths and angles are correct, before applying adhesive and lightly securing them in place with nails. Your installer will apply cornice cement to the corner points where two cornice pieces join and any other gaps. They’ll use a damp sponge to clean off excess cement. After setting to dry for a couple of hours, your handyman will carefully remove the nails and fill holes with more cement, cleaning the area and sanding once dry.
Gyprock repair
Gyprock can wear down over time and is prone to scratches, dents, and holes from everyday use, whether you have active children or need to move around furniture. It’s important to get gyprock wall repairs sorted sooner rather than later so that problems don’t get worse over time. Your handyman will start the gyprock hole repair by cleaning the area and scraping out any excess plaster or debris that may have accumulated. The next step will depend on the size of the hole or issue. Holes bigger than 1cm that go all the way through will need a bridging material (like adhesive fibreglass mesh) installed. This will cover the hole, with a 2-3cm overhang. After applying the mesh, your handyman will apply a layer of fast-setting putty to cover the area. Once it’s dry, they’ll gently sand the area and repeat with a second layer of putty, before doing a final sanding.

Install floating timber shelves on gyprock wall
$400
Lewisham NSW 2049, Australia
5th Aug 2026
I have two Timber Line timber shelves (80cm long, approximately 28cm deep). These must be installed using the manufacturer's concealed floating bracket system. No visible L-brackets or external supports. The wall is gyprock. Installer must have experience locating studs and/or using appropriate structural fixings for floating timber shelves. Please only make an offer if you have installed this type of shelf before.
Mounzer is AMAZING!!! He arrived on time, did the job without hesitation! The timber shelves I had were very heavy and he managed to secure them into my gyprock wall ensuring they were solid. He was accurate and confident - I would highly recommend his work - immaculate job. Photos do not do justice to the precision of the installation.

$200
Sydney NSW 2041, Australia
29th Jul 2026
We have had a washing machine installed upstairs (due to young kids) and need some small gyprocking done and painting. These holes are quite small. The larger hole we require a paintable access panel installed so we can access the plumbing in the event of a leak. The access panel is about 450 x 400. The 2 holes in the wardrobe one needs plaster and the one needs gyprock from a cut hole from plumber, both are small. We want all the 3 painted if required (Not sure if the access panel will fix exactly or need some gyprocking.

Mount paintings on wall. Remove unwanted hooks. Fix gyprock holes.
$250
Leichhardt NSW 2040, Australia
20th Jun 2026
I need 4 paintings mounted on the wall 1. Heavy canvas paintings in frame, over 1.5m wide. There are 2 small hooks on the gyprock wall that need to be removed first ( with any gyprock holes fixed and painted over), then a large secure hook needs to be added in the cental position, and the painting then mounted. The painting as a string at the back 2. Photo frame (about 1m wide) needs to be mounted. Has claws at back but wall has hook which won't work. The hook needs to be removed with claws added, or a string needs to be added to the back of it, whatever is more affordable and sustainable long term. Need help with ensuring frame is aligned in the right position. This is gyprock layered on brick wall. 3. Need to add hook and mount painting in right position above bed. This is a double brick wall. Frame is about 1 meter wide. 4. Need to add hook and mount small painting above kitchen counter. It's about 40cm wide. Looking for someone who has previous experience doing this sort of work with excellent reviews. Would like to make sure that wall structures are left clean and not damaged. Paintings should be able to stay securely on walls for years. Must come with all supplies except matching wall paint which we will provide.
Efficient, organised and did a great job. Super friendly too.

Mounting access points (2 on gyprock ceiling, 1 on external wall)
$300
Hurlstone Park NSW 2193, Australia
1st Mar 2026
I’ve already run all the Cat6 cables through the ceiling to the exact AP locations. I need someone to mount two Ubiquiti access points on a gyprock ceiling (approx 600g each). Proper ceiling-rated anchors or fixing into timber will be required — the included plastic plugs aren’t suitable. I also need one external Ubiquiti access point mounted on a masonry wall. The cable is already in the ceiling above that location and can drop straight down behind the unit. No cabling work required — just mounting and securing the three APs. photos show the two ceilings and one external wall
Amazing job, Fernando jumped in and sorted it out with professionalism
