Move the existing pole, attached top colorbond fence out by 1cm to close the gap between the pole and the existing gate for new lock to work. maybe add another piece of timber? 2.Drill and cut out the aluminium pole to install the locking mechanism, including the front hole for key opening 3. Old gate needs repair by welding, I think they call it, wrought iron gate. As you can see by the pics, it was repaired before using some metal pieces that were welded to it, probably needs 2-3 welding spots. I'm not fussy, just want it safe. - Due date: Before Wednesday, 30 November 2022

The job may be more involved than anticipated. Yes, one screw on the hinge needs to be countersunk out as the head has broken off. The second screw/bolt is located at the top on the metal post on which the gate swings on. It is attached to the wall! The broken head has left the shaft still insitu and may be an 'expander-bolt' type. If it can be replaced with a new/same type, the metal post may need to be uninstalled from the brick wall it is mounted on to access the position of the shaft. The question to ask is... can an expander-bolt shaft be removed so that another can be inserted in exactly the same position otherwise the job is for nought? ...The post needs to remain in exactly the same position to line up the 'strike' on the other side.

Two 'bolts' have broken off heads one on gate post one on hinge. Reminants need to be removed/drilled out and replacement bolts inserted to secure strength of the gate.
