I’m looking for an experienced cabinetmaker/joiner to create a custom freestanding fireplace and entertainment unit. I’ve attached reference photos showing the style I’m after – warm, cosy and traditional with walnut cabinetry. The unit would be made as 3 separate pieces: • Centre freestanding fireplace/mantel • Left display cabinet • Right display cabinet All 3 pieces should sit flush together with no gaps so they look built-in, but remain separate so I can take them with me if I move. Approximate overall size is 250cm wide x 210cm high x 35–40cm deep, subject to final measurements. Each side cabinet would be approx. 50cm wide with: • Open display shelving • Drawer below shelving • Double-door cupboard below • Brass/gold handles • Traditional detailing • Smart RGB+CCT LED strips recessed with diffusers. I’d like app/remote control, dimming, warm white and colour-changing options. The centre fireplace section would be approx. 150cm wide with a 50–55 inch electric fireplace insert and chunky walnut mantel. I’d like a warm cream/off-white handmade tiled look around the fireplace. To keep the unit lightweight, I’m happy with peel-and-stick tiles or another lightweight alternative, provided it’s heat-safe and suitable for the chosen electric fireplace. Happy to take advice on this. A 75-inch TV will be wall-mounted above the mantel. I don’t want any cabinetry or bridge above the TV. The 3 pieces can be discreetly anchored to the wall for safety, but fixings need to be removable for future moving. It doesn’t need to be solid walnut – quality walnut veneer/furniture-grade materials are fine and would help keep the units lighter. I’m open to advice on measurements, materials and construction. I need a carpenter/handyman experienced with solid timber doors to repair my front entry door and door frame and prepare them for new lock hardware. The door previously had a large mortise-style lock removed. An attempt was made to fill the old mortise cavity with timber, but I would now like the repair done properly. Door work required: * Cut/remove the existing damaged/repaired timber section around the old mortise lock. * Cut and fit a new solid timber insert/block into the old mortise cavity so the door edge is structurally sound. * Glue/fix the replacement timber properly and finish it flush with the existing door edge. * Repair/tidy the existing lock openings as required. * Accurately drill/cut the required openings for: * Eufy Video Smart Lock/deadbolt – upper position. * Lemaar passage lever/latch – lower position. * Cut/recess the door edge for the new deadbolt and latch faceplates as required. Door-frame work required: * The existing frame has the old mortise-lock/strike cavity, which also needs to be properly filled/repaired with timber. * The current strike/lock alignment is not correct, so please do not simply reuse the existing strike positions. * Once the door-side holes are prepared, accurately mark the new positions on the frame. * Cut/recess the frame for the new Eufy deadbolt strike and passage-latch strike, ensuring both line up correctly and the door closes/locks smoothly. * Finish the repaired frame area neatly and flush. I will install the Eufy smart lock and passage handle myself. I need the carpenter to complete the timber repairs and accurately prepare/cut the door and frame for installation.

I want to learn woodworking, I have no tools and I’m a beginner with zero knowledge. I have some projects I’d like to do and would be great to learn from someone while doing it. I could assist you in building and mounting, say a folding table for instance. Happy to buy material required.

I need an experienced carpenter or handyman to assess and repair an internal guest-bedroom door. The door is slightly slanted/misaligned and does not close or latch properly. It needs to be pushed or pulled very hard to shut, and even when it appears closed, the latch does not reliably engage with the strike plate. The door can sometimes be pushed open from outside without turning the handle. I have already tried tightening the hinge screws, but this made the door harder to close. When tightened fully, the door places pressure against the frame and may pop open by itself. Please inspect the full setup, including the door alignment, hinges, hinge screws and surrounding timber, door frame/jamb, handle, latch, strike plate and clearance around the door. The repair may involve replacing or repositioning hinges, repairing stripped screw holes, packing/adjusting hinges, repositioning or drilling the strike plate, adjusting the latch, or minor trimming/planing if required. The finished door should open and close smoothly, sit evenly in the frame, latch securely and remain closed unless the handle is turned. I prefer the existing door and frame to be repaired, not replaced. Please discuss any major work with me first. Bring the required tools and include basic minor materials in your offer. The job includes: * Carefully removing/cutting out the lower cabinet panel/base section to create enough space for the stacked setup. * Trimming the bottom of the cabinet door neatly so it fits and operates properly after the modification and add laminate on cabinet door. * Ensuring all cuts are clean, professional, and finished neatly. * Assisting me with lifting and placing the dryer onto the washing machine using the stacker kit. I have already purchased the stacker kit. The main requirement is clean and precise carpentry work, plus helping position the dryer safely onto the washing machine.
