I wish I was kidding, but I actually need help. Ideally someone who maybe has been or is a professional cleaner or literally any job where you’ve been in a lot of homes. I rent my home and I love it (about a year 1/2). It’s worth noting that the owner has rented the place out for maybe 15 years and maintained absolutely nothing. There is a smell in my kitchen area that I cannot pin down nor seem to get rid of. I’ve used a black light because I thought maybe an animal was peeing (not mine. Mine go outside. But it has that musk). The refrigerator and dishwasher, both very old, were recently pulled out and put them for maintenance and some of it is definitely coming from those areas BUT it’s also coming from lower cabinets and I think some of the baseboards. I don’t know if this could be a cause, but all of the sewage piping in the house is extremely old and just got determined that it needs to be completely redone. But then I would think I would smell this everywhere? And it’s gotten worse in the last couple of months. I’ve gone in there with a black light (but I don’t see what I think I should be seeing given smell, but I don’t really have experience with that) . I don’t have a rat problem. I’ve lived through that in the past and there’s no way I wouldn’t hear it. I’m at the end of my rope with this. Before I go to my landlord about it, because he’s not going to be happy with me bothering him, I would really love another adult to see if they have an idea. It won’t take up much of your time! And my schedule is crazy flexible so basically whatever works for you whatever day. I only ask that you have what ever sort of experience might give you a better… identifying nose than your average person lol Help! 🥺
