Job Title: Small Demolition – Remove Hollow Wooden Ceiling Casing to Expose Steel Beam (RSJ) Location: NW1 (Camden/Chalk Farm area) Preferred Date: This Friday (6th November) Job Description: I need an experienced handyman to remove a three-sided cosmetic wooden box casing that runs horizontally across a flat ceiling. The casing is hiding a structural steel beam (RSJ) right above a double bed alcove. • The Structure: The box sounds completely hollow/echoey, but it has a plaster skim coat on the outside. • The Challenge: The edges of the casing meet a hollow stud wall on one side and the flat ceiling on the other. I have already scored the edges with a knife, but it feels like there are hidden timber studs or metal corner beads underneath, so a standard utility knife can't cut all the way through. • What needs doing: 1. Systematically dismantle and remove the wooden/plaster casing and its internal timber framing to leave the structural steel beam fully exposed. 2. Ensure no damage is caused to the surrounding flat ceiling or the adjacent hollow wall. 3. Place the removed debris into heavy-duty rubble sacks (ready for disposal). Tools Required: You must bring an oscillating multi-tool or a drywall/padsaw to plunge-cut the casing safely near the ceiling lines without prying violently against the plaster. Please also bring dust sheets, as this is directly above a bed frame. Note: There are no live electrical wires or USB ports inside this casing—it is purely empty wooden framing around the steel.

Before the task, I need whoever is interested to survey the area and discuss the task once to ensure we're all clear on the task needed to be done. I have an old 6x4 garden shed base surrounded by artificial turf. I need the base removed and I need to replace it with a 10x4 garden shed base. I want the ground levelled and a weed membrane put down before putting in the 10x4 base. I then want a Power shed of 10x4 installed. I'm getting a wooden base with stakes with the shed. The distance between the fence and the garden boundary is 4*, so it may require some moving the wooden boundary a ft or so in to make space for putting in the shed. I've removed the base in the picture now.
