Looking for an experienced carpenter / builder / handyman to transform an old fireplace area into a modern boxed-off storage/media feature similar to the inspiration photo attached. With plug sockets inside the storage area and on the wall for the TV. Current fireplace surround and insert can be removed if needed. The goal is to create a clean plastered boxed feature with: Recessed lower storage shelf/niche Floating timber-style mantel beam Smooth plastered finish ready for paint Space suitable for décor/storage and potentially TV setup above 2 Electric sockets in the niche and also on the wall. Optional integrated LED strip lighting inside niche (if possible) The existing fireplace opening has already been exposed behind the current surround. I’ve attached: Current fireplace setup Fireplace after removal/exposure Inspiration image of desired final look Scope of work may include: Remove existing fireplace surround/materials Frame and box off chimney recess Build recessed shelf/storage area Install timber mantel beam Plasterboard + skim finish Prepare ready for decorating Advise on materials and best approach Please quote including: Labour Estimated timeframe Whether materials are included or separate Examples/photos of similar work if available Flexible on timing but looking to get started soon.

Need ladder or steps to access coal cellar. It is difficult to attach a step to the wall as the plasterboard is attached to a metal frame. There is then a thick plastic dampproofing membrane behind that that I am worried about piercing. Perhaps best solution is a retractable ladder. Currently using a step ladder. If we can't add ladder or steps, then we can add handles on either side of coal cellar entrance so there is something to hold when using step ladder.

Looking for decking installer to build a 3m x 3m timber deck in my garden. Around 2m of the decking area will sit on existing paving slabs, with approximately 1m extending over grass.
