What do roof installation services include?
Roof installation is an essential part of home construction, home maintenance and renovation. This service includes all the activities necessary to ensure your home gets a roof put on properly to protect it from the elements and last for years to come. The service can include inspecting the existing support structure, modifying or installing a roof support structure and cleaning it as needed. The service continues with installing different parts of the roof depending on its type using the appropriate materials.
Inspecting the roof structure
Your hired roofer begins the installation with a thorough visual inspection. They can make all the essential measurements to determine the amount and dimensions of the required materials. Should the job call for more materials, some roofers may offer to buy them.
Preparing the roof structure
Next, your hired roof installer prepares the rafters and other parts that make up the underlying roof structure. This can include cleaning the roof supports and underlying base of dirt, dust and debris to ready them for applying adhesives if appropriate.
Some roof installation specialists can offer to reinforce the roof support structure or install a new one if necessary, but note that these can cost extra. You may consider hiring a carpenter to strengthen the underlying supports. They can cut whatever materials are required of the roof to the right lengths, widths and thicknesses.
Installing the roof components
Once the rafters and materials are ready, your roofer proceeds to install the roof. They do this methodically and install, cut, attach, nail or glue each component in the right order and with the appropriate tools. Whether this is a flat roof EPDM roofing, rubber roof, fibreglass or glass roof installation, your hired roofer installs the roof following industry best practices per state standards and building codes.
Finishing touches
After most of the roof components are installed, your roofer can install other finishing touches. This can involve trimming off excess felt or rubber layers, installing gables, flashing, vents and soffits. Some roofers may offer to install guttering systems as part of the service, but some may charge extra. Your roofer may conduct a final check and make small adjustments to ensure that all your roof components fit right. I’m looking for someone who can install clear sheeting on an existing structure. The roof area to sheet is 300 cm long x 340 cm wide and I will need about 10cm overhang from the edges. Flashing needs to be installed on the wall edge with the flashing installed under the weatherboard where it attaches to the house. I would like quotes either recommending the product I should source, or quotes including materials. I am happy to receive recommendations on sheeting material, I think Laserlite will probably be the best.
