I’m looking to rescue a backyard that has been severely neglected. It has recently been cleared of overgrown weeds and shrubs, had metal junk removed out of it, and the old rotary clothesline removed and now I’m looking to get some assistance with garden design before I continue with this rehab. There are two sheds, and I’m looking to get rid of the smaller one (5x3m) as well as a concrete path that is dividing the two spaces. Before I do all that, though, I thought I should get some professional advice about what this garden could look like. What I’d like it to be is a simple garden with natural grass, some low maintenance plants bordering it, and an area for a small vegepatch /fruit trees. I would also like space to put up a trampoline & a swing set. Where the smaller shed is, I’d like to turn that into an area for a small 2.4m round stock tank pool with some surrounding decking. Attached are photos of the garden as it currently looks. What I’m looking for from you is some plans for a simple, practical, low maintenance starter garden. I’m realistic that I likely won’t be able to do everything I want straight away, but I would like to be able to go outside and enjoy my garden somewhat in the meantime.
