Top Chain Link Fencing related questions
Installing a chain-link fence can take around two to three days. On average, it takes a day or two to allow the concrete for stabilising the posts to dry, and at least another day to attach, stretch and secure the wiring, then install the gate. The service can take longer if your chain link fence encompasses a large area, as this will require more posts. Ask your Tasker for an idea of how long the service will take.
Yes. Despite having many separate components like posts, galvanised wire mesh, top and bottom rails, a chain-link fence can cost less than a wood fence. While it's cheaper, it's not always better, so consider your needs before deciding what type of fence to put up. Try not to base your decision solely on cost; you may end up wanting or needing a different kind of fence and spending more to replace what was installed.
One way to do this is to make sure it's free of rust. You can remove the rust with warm, soapy water, then spray it with liquid automobile wax to keep it from getting rusty again. You may also embellish your chain-link fence by painting it. Another way is to grow vines on your chain-link fence. Why not hire an expert for more ideas?
Yes, but not by much. A chain-link fence is considered the less attractive option compared to other types. If you want to put your property on the market and have a chain-link fence, you can replace it with a more attractive option like an aluminium fence. Aluminium fences don't cost much, look more attractive and are more likely to add some value to your property.
With regular maintenance and without sustaining any significant structural damage, such as from tremors or continuing abuse, a typical chain-link fence can last for as long as 20 years. It can last even longer if the wire mesh material is coated with vinyl as it can protect it from corrosion and absorb any impact better. Â
Yes, but only if you have the proper tools, materials, experience, and know-how to install one that complies with your state's rules and regulations. You must also obtain the appropriate permits from your local village council or homeowner's association. Note that installing a chain-link fence is a complicated task, and there's always a risk of serious injury. Doing this yourself isn't worth the trouble, so why not hire an expert on Airtasker?
What do chain link fencing services include?
Chain link fencing services include all the required tasks or activities to do a professional chain link fence installation on your property. This service can consist of site preparation, taking the appropriate measurements, marking the corners and sectional posts, digging holes for the posts and installing them. Your hired chain link fence installer can also install the rails, the gate and attach the galvanised wire netting or wire mesh, install tension bands, then stretch the wire mesh to fit.
Preparing the site & taking measurements
It's best to have all the necessary permits from your local council before starting the installation. Some Taskers can obtain these permits upon request. The site must be clear of any obstructions or debris, so you may want to hire a separate service to clear the area. After clearing, your chain link fence installer takes all the necessary measurements.Â
They can mark all the spots where they'll place the corner and inner posts on your property. Your Tasker can ensure that the measurements are within the confines of your property and comply with your state's regulations and safety standards on galvanised chain link fencing. Â
Procuring and preparing materials
If you don't have the materials for your chain link fence ready, some Taskers can get them upon request. They can get sufficient materials to build and install a right-sized chain link fence for your property's measurements. They can turn over any excess materials after the installation.
Installing the posts
Your Tasker proceeds to dig holes on the spots marked for each post. They can place the gate posts, corner and inner posts, spacing them evenly and checking that their holes are deep enough and uniform in depth. To ensure that the posts stay level and remain in place, your Tasker can pour concrete into the holes, then allow this to dry for 24 to 48 hours.Â
Installing the tension bands, rails and mesh
After the concrete dries, your Tasker places tension bands on each post. They can install the appropriate number of tension bands on each post and make sure they're spaced evenly and have the proper ground clearance.Â
Your chain link fence installer then places the appropriate top cap on each post, then threads and attaches the top and bottom rails. If necessary, your Tasker can measure and cut top rails to the exact length. Once the rails are on, your Tasker can install the wire mesh. They can cut the right amount of mesh, thread it through each tension band, stretch the mesh and secure it to each rail.
Installing the gate
Your Tasker can punch holes through the gate posts, then install the gate hinges and latches. They can install a single or double-gate if needed and attach caps to each of the gate posts. Now that your fence is complete, you can make the space more functional - why not hire someone to add storage or improve the landscaping?

The top rail and one vertical post of boundary fence with neighbour is bent or kinked slightly. The deformed section of fence is around 3 meters in from front of both properties. Access is possible on both sides. I need the fence straightened as much as possible. The vertical post still has base in tact and is firm in ground. Above ground however it's tilted back due to impact. This deformed the top rail and it's bent our of shape. See the photos.
