Remove Windows 7 OS from Toshiba Satellite Laptop and Install Linux Mate OS

Michael was such a pleasure to work with. He arrived at our house on time as promised. The Laptop upgrade to Linux was seamless and he explained things along the way. I was able to ask questions and he also helped with a couple of related IT issues as well. Very knowledgeable across the whole process. I would definitely recommend Michael to anyone wishing to obtain IT help through Airtasker.

Surface Pro - fix Linux install

I have a Surface Pro 7 with Fedora Linux installed and have 3 issues that are beyond my technical skill to rectify. Update: The Windows install is still fine and does not need fixing, these points are for the Fedora install only, so I need some Linux help. 1) I underestimated the drive space needed for Linux when partitioning, and have filled up the home drive. I have since resized the disk to have an additional 5gb free to add to the home drive, but being able to edit the home drive partition is beyond my skills and confidence! I am unable to update the Fedora install until the extra space is added. 2) The Surface Pro kernel (and touchscreen) no longer work. Once I installed Fedora, I followed the guide here - https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface - to install the kernel. However, some time after the install, there were several patches for Fedora and/or Windows, which caused the kernel to break, and now I am required to use the generic/standard one for the system to boot. I am unable to fix this as I don't understand what the problem is. 3) The touchscreen doesn't work in Fedora. Never has. - Due date: Flexible - Due date: Before Saturday, 22 July 2023

Realdash software working correctly on a SBC that will be run in a car. (Already exists with some guides) The SBC must be fast and capable of booting in under 10 seconds or as close as possible. A Canbus and GPS adaptor installed on the SBC with data working on the Realdash SBC. This can be hat or usb but compact is desirable SBC will be connected to a Battery bank that is then charged by the Automotive car power system. The SBC may be put in Sleep mode. I would prefer if the sleep time was more than 7 days it shut down. Wake from sleep would be very quick. Requires understanding of hardware (and suggestions on selection and purchase) SBC (does not have to be Raspberry Pi happy for something more powerful) GPS on Linux Canbus adaptor working on Linux Sleep and wake modes Software Requirement Understanding Linux Understanding Realdash software (yes this is in development phase on Linux) https://www.realdash.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1412 data feeds into Realdash from GPS and Canbus to feed correct data high speed polling to ensure data is current eg Tacho. Happy to have a chat on the phone. This is a fun project that I just don’t have the expertise to do. All development code and configurations are to be owned outright by me. - Due date: Flexible
