Under-stair storage — looking for quotes We’re hoping to get an idea of how much it would cost to have someone build some storage under our stairs. The first photo is our actual staircase, and the photos after that are examples from Google to show the sort of thing we’re wanting. The space under the stairs is mostly empty, apart from some timber framing and gyprock in places. We’d love to turn it into useful storage, including a pull-out shoe rack and some other drawers or cupboards. We’re not necessarily looking for expensive custom cabinetry and would be very happy with a cost-effective solution using IKEA carcasses or something similar, if that would work. We mainly want it to look neat and blend in with the existing white staircase. We understand someone may need to come and have a look before giving us an exact quote, but we’d love a rough idea of cost first. When we knock on the wall under the stairs, it sounds hollow/empty, so we believe there is usable space there that could be converted into storage. We want to use VJ boards to create storage under our stairs. Refer to picture, the door is in red. The door is just a door, not a pull out type. ( I want to be able walk into the tall section)Then I was thinking possibly 2 pull out drawers which are in blue. Example pictures also attached. There’s dead space underneath our stairs (the builders showed me before I moved in) and I’d like to put in a push door on the wall in the photo so we can store things in the dead space behind it. No shelving inside necessary.
