Looking for a qualified mechanic to repair a 2008 BMW 520d E60 with the N47 engine. The timing chain has failed, and the car was started after the failure, so internal engine damage may have occurred. I’m not looking to replace the engine — if needed, I would prefer a full engine rebuild based on damage assessment. Scope of work: • Replace timing chain • Inspect for internal damage (valves, pistons, etc.) • Rebuild engine if necessary (no engine swaps) • Job can be done on-site or at your workshop (Melbourne) Please provide: • A quote for timing chain only • A quote for full engine rebuild (parts + labour) • Timeline for completion • Proof of experience with N47 engines Budget range (guideline): • Timing chain replacement: $1,200–$2,000 • Engine rebuild: $3,000–$5,500+ (depending on damage) Car is currently not drivable, so towing may be needed if not on-site. I serviced my car myself and I have a bad oil leek. I think it’s the oil plug needs a proper tightening… would love someone to be able to help me plug it up correct! Cheers
