I have a 2008 Falcon EA-FG wagon with 300k on the clock that is not starting. Yesterday I went to start the car and it started making by metallic grinding/banging noise on my second or third time attempt and so stopped and called the RACV. The RACV guy says that it is either: a) The starter motor which can easily be replaced. b) The bendix or ring gear which is a bigger job. I need a mobile mechanic to come out and give me a second opinion. The task is to come and quickly pull out the starter motor and tell me what the actual issue is. If it's just the starter motor then there will be another task to replace it. If it's the bendix or ring gear then another task to fix this is you can. This is a friends car so I will need something in writing like an email or Air Tasker message to conform what's wrong.
