Mowing and general tidy up of small back yard

I am having some issues with my front garden, plants are dying, need some advice on what is wrong (disease/soil/other) before I lose them. Also need hedges trimmed and shaped (Murraya) at front and side of house, and some edging/weeding in back garden.
