I have a desktop pc and 2 laptops connected to my home network. All have been visible to each other and files on the desktop have been accessed by all machines over a lengthy period. There is an extender used by one of the laptops and the desktop is connected via ethernet. I am replacing the desktop with a new laptop and have added it to the network and, as far as I can see, sharing is set up properly on all machines but I am getting Access Denied messages and I am ready to give up on finding out what is going on. I am looking for someone who understands small home networks like this to sort it all out. Eventually, I will be removing the desktop and the new laptop will act as the central file repository but I need all pcs on the network initially to facilitate transferring files & programs to the new machine.
