engine only 3 years old ... suddenly has fuel in oil..4 stroke Briggs and Stratton on Victa push lawn mower ...still runs and starts easily

We are finding brown marks on our clothes everytime we do a load. Its worse when we wash our whites. There is also an odour coming from it. Like stagnant water. We have emptied in cleaned out the filter on the bottom and scrubbed and cleaned out the drum. Not sure what else we can do
