The equipment you should provide includes your baby’s bathing suit and their favourite toys to make them feel at ease and love the water. Some instructors may ask one or both parents to help in a session, so you may have to suit up! An ideal setup would mean having a pool or inflatable pool large enough to have your home lessons. You can schedule sessions with your instructor at a nearby facility if you don’t have a pool.
That depends on your baby’s age, as well as the frequency and duration of their sessions. Assuming that your baby has weekly half-hour sessions, babies aged 6 to 18 months can learn to swim after a year or a year-and-a-half. Children at the age of 1 and a half to 3 years old can learn to swim in a year. Meanwhile, 3-year-olds and up can learn in as little as 6 months.
Yes, you can hire Taskers to pitch in if your swimming lessons business needs more instructors. Make sure to post a job on our platform with crucial details like the job description, experience level you want in a Tasker, location, and schedule for lessons. Potential Taskers will reply with a free quote, and you can discuss rates and other details about the job after you’ve hired them. Don’t forget; you can employ Taskers for teaching different skills.
While newborn babies can go directly into the water from birth, they shouldn’t stay in water for long. The bodies of very young babies can’t regulate their body temperature, and they risk getting an infection from the water. It’s safer for babies to learn how to swim and stay in a swimming pool when they’re at least six months old.
Yes!! All you have to do is make a post on Airtasker. You’ll then get matched with potential Taskers close to you. Be sure to include your exact location, schedule and budget in your post. You can expect queries to your post in a few minutes, and interested Taskers will give you a free quote for their services.
You may be hard-pressed to find swimming lessons for babies under six months. Any younger than that, a baby is very vulnerable to getting infections from a swimming pool, especially those open for public use. Chlorine takes time to kill bacteria, and your baby’s immune system isn’t as strong as that of an adult. Your 3-month-old baby’s body is also inefficient in regulating their body temperature, so they can quickly feel cold in unheated pools.

What do baby swimming lessons include?
Baby swimming lessons include all the tasks and activities necessary to teach your baby or toddler how to swim. This service can consist of introducing your baby to the water, teaching them how to float, then teaching them how to use their arms and legs to help them move about.
Baby swim classes: introduction
Your hired instructor can help your baby or toddler get accustomed to being in the water. Some instructors may request their dad or mum to get in the pool with them to feel comfortable and safe. Your instructor may ask you to hold your baby with both hands held out and allow them to splash about. Your instructor can use this or other techniques to make your baby feel at ease and enjoy the experience.
Teaching your baby to float
After your baby is comfortable with being in the pool, your instructor can teach them how to float. This step can be done with a pool float while they are held by the instructor or one of their parents. Your baby is moved around the pool on the float to build their confidence. Once your baby feels secure enough to float without assistance, the pool float is taken away.
Teaching your baby to paddle
While mum or dad holds the baby, your instructor can teach them to kick their feet by moving them in a gentle, circular kicking or paddling motion. Mum or dad can hold them and move them around the pool. It’s at this point that your baby’s instincts may kick in, and they can start to kick with their feet and move about in the water. Your instructor can use this or other techniques to teach your baby to paddle.
Teaching your baby to use their arms
The next lesson for your baby is teaching them to use their arms when swimming. This is done by showing your baby their favourite toy, then encouraging them to reach for it. Your baby may begin kicking and paddling their way to get to the toy, and this is when the person holding the child moves towards the toy. Your instructor may use this or other techniques to teach them how to swim with their arms.
Having your baby swim short distances
Your instructor can see if they’ve absorbed all the lessons of the previous sessions. They can test if your baby or toddler can swim a short distance from them to their mum or dad, without any help. This is your baby’s ultimate swim test; if they can do this a few times, then they have completed the lesson.
If not, the instructor can repeat lessons until they can swim with confidence and without assistance. If you had all those lessons in your pool, remember that you can hire someone to make sure your pool is clean and safe to use.

I had my first 121 swimming lesson with Lynn on Sunday 3rd April. I learnt so much in the hour plus lesson. Lynn explained everything in detail needed to get me going. She was also there in case I got into any difficulties. What was very good, she was in the water with me at all times. What I learnt was more than I have been taught in my group lessons which I have been attending since September 2021!!. I will continue my lessons with Lynn. Lynn is very very experience as a swimming coach and I would highly recommend her. Thank you Lynn :)
