Our (new) rural home operates 100% on rainwater. Six water tanks (2 sizes, 15,000 litre and 20,000 litre) are filled by rainwater from the 550 sq m roof via a 100mm pipe. The filler pipe is directed to the first tank in the "tank farm" (under the house). Water flowing into the first tank is then distributed to the other 5 tanks via 40mm and 50mm pipes at the base of the tanks (one 40mm and one 50mm between each tank). The roof is approximately 7 metres above the 100mm "spout" into the tank (noting that it is a charge system, the water dropping approximately 9 metres to go under the tilt panel wall before flowing up to the height of the top of the first/entry tank. There is a 100mm overflow pipe on the first tank (and a secondary 100mm overflow on one of the other tanks). The Archimedes principle of joining the tanks and them all levelling works during light rainfall however during heavy rain (we have rain events occasionally exceeding 100mm/hour for 10-30 mins) the system cannot cope and the first tank overflows dramatically. We need an overflow system from the inlet/first tank that does not reduce the level of all tanks (which a 200mm pipe at the top of the first tank would). A diversion system attached to the inlet pipe, to divert flow once the first tank fills is expected to be the only practical solution. Questions: 1) What size overflow pipe is necessary given the above information, and 2) What type of diversion/cut off valve will work in this scenario, noting that a mechanical system would be preferred (i.e. not reliant on electrical power as the power may be out during a storm). If an electrically powered option is the best we would accept it, particularly if it had a battery support system.

Looking for someone to respray my 1981 Datsun 1200 ute and complete minor bodywork. The car is straight overall. Scope of work: - Rust repair on lower sills and quarter panels - Tap out minor dents and straighten rain channel - Full respray over existing paint (scuff and shoot, not bare metal). Open door job including jambs and door faces, not interior. Preference for 2K acrylic, not base/clear. - Raptor bed liner in tray – will need blasting or heavy sand and prime before application - Remove and weld over tonneau mounts, aerial hole, and mirror holes - Reposition and mount mirrors I'm after a clean driver-quality finish, not show standard. You must have your own workspace and spray setup. I can deliver the car to you and handle disassembly beforehand if it helps with quoting. Happy to supply materials if preferred – open to discussion. You're welcome to inspect the car in person before quoting or commencing work. Budget is dependent on skills and experience, scope, and inclusions/exclusions. You'll need to demonstrate previous work before the job commences. Payment on agreed milestones throughout the job. Low-effort replies without examples will be ignored.
