Once the roof leaks have been repaired (this will be done by a roofer, not you!), a painter/decorator/plasterer or handyman would need to: Check both ceilings are completely dry before starting repairs. Scrape away loose paint and damaged plaster, including around the cracks. Inspect the plasterboard and replace any sections that are soft, crumbling or badly water-damaged. Repair the cracks and joints using joint tape, filler or plaster as appropriate. Fill the hole in the ceiling, then sand everything smooth. Apply a stain-blocking primer to prevent watermarks showing through. Repaint both affected ceiling areas, ideally the whole ceiling in each area for a consistent finish. There have been leaks in two separate rooms so work covers both.

Experienced painter needed for three prep-and-paint jobs (photos attached): 1. Ceiling: scrape the flaking paint, fill the hole by the light, prime and repaint the ceiling. 2. Panelled wall: caulk all the panelling, light sand, two coats of paint. 3. Damp corners: mould wash, scrape, fill the cracks, stain-block primer, then anti-mould paint. Please include approx cost of materials in your price. It will likely need two visits for drying time. Good prep matters to me

Looking for a tradesperson or handyman to dismantle and remove a built-in wooden cupboard in a bedroom alcove (the old water tank is already gone; unit is completely empty). The task is to take down the doors, framework, and internal shelving back to the bare walls. Once stripped out, clean and treat any surface mould/damp, apply an anti-damp/stain-block primer, and make good the wall surface with filler/plaster patching so it is smooth, sanded flat, and fully prepped ready for wallpapering. All waste and timber must be bagged, cleared, and removed from the property. Thanks

We have a flat that needs renovating. One problem is that the old iron pipes are leaking - you can see in the photos that the panels are moldy and the iron pipes have rusted. The nearby walls (the adjoning kitchen wall has brown water stain ; the bathroom panel has peeled off paint). We need this investigated and repaired completely so that the leak no longer occurs, and then have the walls resealed and restored

I’m looking for an experienced carpenter/joiner to replace the existing double doors to a built-in storage cupboard in our London courtyard. The existing doors are old, basic timber/board construction with black strap hinges and hardware. They’re functional but tired and I’d like to replace them with something much smarter and more attractive, while keeping the character of the courtyard. I’m open to design ideas from someone with good joinery experience — I’d particularly like advice on the best style and materials for an external/semi-external courtyard environment. What I’m looking for * Remove and dispose of the existing doors * Measure the opening accurately * Design and build two new cupboard doors * Supply suitable exterior/semi-exterior timber/materials * Fit new hinges, catches/handles and other hardware * Ideally retain a traditional/laternal courtyard / period-style look, but with a clean, high-quality finish * Prepare and paint/stain the doors, or leave ready for painting if agreed * Ensure the doors are properly aligned and open/close easily * Make good any minor areas around the frame as required Design ideas I’m not fixed on simply reproducing the existing doors. I’d be interested in options such as: * Traditional ledged-and-braced timber doors * Vertical timber/plank doors with a more contemporary finish * Framed/panelled joinery * A simple painted timber design with black period-style hardware The cupboard is in a courtyard which is partly covered but exposed to outdoor conditions, so the construction needs to be suitable for this environment and resist moisture/weathering. I can provide photos and measurements, and would ideally like the carpenter to visit and measure up before finalising the design. Location: Clapham, London SW11 Budget: Please quote — happy to consider different options depending on design/materials. Please include examples/photos of similar external doors, garden doors, cupboards or traditional joinery you have made.
