We need a quote by Monday and are happy for you to start gathering components and assembling the first 5 units as a prototype. Item 1: Reed switch-triggered MP3 player — quantities of 5 / 10 / 15 units. Each unit should include a 3W mini speaker and AA battery enclosure (we’re happy to take your advice on the best batteries to use). We can assist with 3D printing the enclosures. We’ll provide the MP3 file, but please include sourcing of memory cards. Note: The device must only power the player when the switch is triggered to conserve battery — aiming for 2–4 weeks battery life with ~80 triggers per day. Item 2: Motion sensor-triggered MP3 player using a PIR sensor with ~3–4 m detection range, and the same MP3 playability as above. Ideally, this version should be sleep-friendly or have auto power-down to maximise battery life. Note: We're currently quoting off-the-shelf options for around $20 per unit (excluding housing and batteries). If you can match or come close to this price, we’d be keen to offer you the full run.
