What format will my graphics be delivered in?

The final format of your graphics will depend on how and where they’re going to be used. For print materials, your printer will specify the format (usually PDF) and if it’s digital, you’ll likely receive PDFs, PNGs, or JPEGs of your files.

What does a graphic design service include?

Graphic designers can make you and your business look polished and professional. Your graphic designer can work with you on a range of design tasks from branding and artwork to social media graphics and advertising. Here’s what you can expect from some of the most common freelance graphic design services:

Whether you’re starting a new business or your existing brand needs a bit of a refresh, it’s so important that you get on-point business branding to reach your target audience. A freelance graphic designer will discuss the vision you have for your business, along with your market, your audience, brand colours, fonts, imagery, and style preferences. They’ll cover a whole range of visual branding-related tasks, like brand design and logo design, and can create brand guidelines to help you create a consistent look in the future.

Social media graphics

Many freelance graphic designers specialise in creating graphics for your online content, like creating memes for social media, graphics for your website, and featured images for blogs. You’ll need to brief your graphic designer on your brand guidelines, examples of the styles you like, and let them know what online channels you need graphics for. Then they’ll use programs like Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign to develop high quality graphics you can use online. Most graphic designers will include at least one round of revisions, so don’t be afraid to provide feedback if the initial design isn’t exactly what you’re after. They’ll usually provide the final image design in either JPEG or PNG.

Artwork for print marketing

Do you need artwork and print design for items marketing materials like brochures, flyers, business cards, posters, or even product packaging? A freelance graphic designer can produce print-ready designs to the specifications required by a professional printer. They’ll ask you plenty of questions about your brand, your goals from the printed materials, your audience, and the printing specs. Then they’ll create your draft design(s) ready for feedback. Once you’re happy with the final design, they’ll supply high-resolution artwork in the correct format (usually pdf), that’s ready to print.

Personal projects and invitations

Graphic design isn’t just for businesses. You might want a custom party invitation designed or a wedding invite that perfectly fits with your theme. Or maybe you’d like to commission a unique illustration or drawing of a family or friend to give as a gift. A freelance graphic designer will use their skills to produce something truly special that you (and the recipients) will treasure for a long time.

Adobe / computer task

Shepherd's Bush, Greater London

28th Feb 2021

We would like to print the attached powerpoint as a book and need to convert this to a print-ready file using adobe acrobat or indesign. The issue is that the powerpint isn’t A4 sized so we first need this be resized and then the appropriate crop and bleed marks added. See below advice we received from printers: · You need to make the whole page area 6mm bigger top and side. So if the job is A4 - 297 x 210mm then you need to make the page size 216 x 303mm. You really need to try and make the sure that the content (Text) is 10mm from the trim edge or 13mm from the overall page size. It obviously can be more. · In the attached PDF, the crops are fine but the colour or images need to bleed beyond the crops so that when they are cut down at the crop marks, the colour goes right up to the edge. · As I explained before the colour needs to go up to and beyond the trim marks so that you don't get any white border when it is trimmed down. Let me know if the above makes any sense or you think we need more info!

DIY expert needed to help make toys for our tigers

Yaverland, Isle of Wight

21st Jul 2021

DETAILS Who we are: We’re The Wildheart Trust, a wildlife charity that provides funding and support for tiger conservation programmes in India. In the UK, our Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, based on the Isle of Wight, provides forever homes for big cats and other exotic animals which have been rescued from circuses or the pet trade. In recent years we’ve rescued or re-homed six tigers, four lions and three Eurasian lynx and we’re working hard to make sure they have a good quality of life that’s as fun and rewarding as possible. And that’s where you come in! What we need done: We’re looking for someone to help us create and design toys for our tigers that stimulate their key senses and challenge them physically and mentally. These are no ordinary toys. Far from soft and fluffy, our tiger toys need to be robust and well-built so they can’t be destroyed in a matter of minutes. They should either be: Food toys - where we can insert a treat and our tigers have to work out how to get the food – tigers are very intelligent and love a problem-solving challenge! Behavioural enrichment - toys that stimulate our tigers’ natural wild instincts Ideally made of wood, old crates, fire hose, garage springs, heavy-duty hessian or bungee cord; these are hardcore, supersized versions of what you might see a domestic cat play with. We need someone with great DiY skills, carpentry experience and a knack for turning scrap and junk into something great. But don’t worry if you’re not so great on the tools - we’re also open to finding someone with ideas for what the toys could be, so let us know if you’ve got any awesome ideas! We’ll need you to come down to the Isle of Wight and take a brief, meet the keepers and then work with us on the prototype designs before bringing them to the Sanctuary and delivering them to the tigers to play with. We’re offering £500 to develop the designs and we also have a budget to pay for materials and travel, although we’re hoping that you may have old scraps lying around at home that you can turn into something amazing! Why we need it done: In the wild, tigers experience new sensations all the time so we introduce as many as we can and enrichment is a way of stimulating them. For example we know they are attracted by texture and they love lavender scent, so we need to create toys that keep their minds busy and appeal to their senses! So tell us why you’d be the best person for this job, and what skills or experience could make you our chief toymaker!?

I want to start a frame business. I need the material developed so that I have individual templates for designs and the content. So that according to the customers preference i can make it bespoke for them. I dont know which software I should buy to enable me to do this and if so, I have never used one before. I am tech savy but I dont want to buy one and then it wont enable me to do what I want. I would like some advise on which to buy and then a crash course for an hour or two on how to achieve what I want.
