This way, you won't even have to worry about doing the heavy lifting yourself!
Refrigerant removal and disposal
With the fridge removal done, your broken unit will now be brought to an old fridge disposal area. While it may be tempting to stow away the refrigerator at a dump, these appliances can be a bit more tricky. After all, these contain chemicals that can be dangerous if not disposed of correctly. As such, it must be taken to a proper disposal facility not only to comply with local legislation but to help ease the impact on the environment as well.
Fridge freezer disposal and recycling
Once the chemicals have been removed, your old unit can now be disposed of safely. Moving a fridge from our upstairs area to our garage, it is a french door Fisher Paykel fridge (weighs 143kg). We have big doors to move the fridge through our front door onto our driveway and down our driveway to our garage - no stairs involved. Then remove a treadmill from our downstairs area and dump at the rubbish tips. Both items are super heavy and will require two people and equipment to move it (like a trolley dolly).
